MURDER vs. MANSLAUGHTER Explained in 60 SECONDS!

Kwesi snapped… and with one blow… Yaw dropped.
Dead.
Now tell me… is it MURDER?

MURDER

Murder, under Section 47 of Act 29, is when you intentionally kill someone… with unlawful harm. The law calls it Mens Rea (your mind) + Actus Reus (your action).

ELEMENTS OF MURDER TO ESTABLISH:

âś… There was a death
âś… It was caused by unlawful harm
âś… You intended it

If the prosecution proves ALL THREE… it’s MURDER!

MANSLAUGHTER

But sometimes… death doesn’t mean murder.
It could be MANSLAUGHTER under Section 51 or 52 of Act 29.

If you were provoked…
If you were defending yourself…
If you acted in good faith...

Or in the case of a woman… saving her own life from her child under 12…

The law shows mercy. The charge becomes manslaughter.
With manslaughter, the law says—You didn’t plan it.
But your actions still led to death.

So, you’ll be punished…
But not like a murderer.
Intent matters. So does circumstance.

Murder or manslaughter…
The line is thin. The consequences? Life-changing.
