A NEW CHAPTER FOR MINING REGULATION IN DAMANG

A significant milestone was recorded today in Damang as the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources commissioned a new office of the Minerals Commission.

The new office is more than just a building. It brings the work of the Minerals Commission closer to mining communities and stakeholders, making it easier to monitor mining activities, engage communities and respond to issues affecting the mining sector.

For Damang and the surrounding communities, this is a welcome development. A stronger local presence of the Minerals Commission can help promote responsible mining while ensuring that the concerns of communities are heard and addressed.

The commissioning is therefore an important step towards strengthening collaboration between government, mining companies and local communities for a more sustainable mining sector.
