“NATIONAL HARMONISED PROSPECTUS

The general public, especially parents and students preparing to enrol in Senior High School (SHS/SHTS) for the 2026/2027 academic year, is hereby informed of the release of the National Harmonised Prospectus for both prospective boarding and day students.

Parents and students are encouraged to carefully review the prospectus and make the necessary preparations ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic year.

Schools and other relevant stakeholders are also expected to adhere to the requirements outlined in the National Harmonised Prospectus to ensure a smooth, consistent and standardised admission process nationwide.

Ahead of the release of the school placements, this prospectus is intended to provide parents and students with clear guidance on the essential items required for enrollment, ensuring that all newly admitted SHS students are adequately prepared to begin the academic year.

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and China to expand access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education at all levels. He said greater cooperation in STEM and emerging technologies would help equip Ghanaian learners with the skills needed to meet the demands of the future.

Hon. Iddrisu made the call when the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Cong Song, paid a working visit to the Minister. He expressed appreciation to the Government of China for its continued support to Ghana's education sector, including the establishment of Confucius Institutes in some Ghanaian universities, which he said had contributed to strengthening educational and cultural ties between the two countries.

The Minister also thanked China for the US$30 million grant to the Government of Ghana, which will support the establishment of the University of Science and Technology in Damongo, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies. He expressed hope that Ambassador Cong Song's tenure would further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship between Ghana and China, particularly in education and technology.

The Minister said Ghana looked forward to expanding the partnership beyond existing interventions to ensure that learners at every level have opportunities to acquire practical STEM and digital skills.

Ambassador Cong Song expressed China's commitment to deepening cooperation with Ghana and strengthening partnerships that contribute to the country's development, particularly in education, science and technology.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has renewed government’s support for educational institutions of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), particularly in the provision and upgrading of classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and STEM facilities.

Speaking during a courtesy call by GAF officials, he said the Ministry would initially focus on priority infrastructure projects at Burma Camp, Takoradi, Tamale and Wa, while emphasising the importance of discipline and practical education in preparing young people for national development.

The Director of Ghana Armed Forces Education, Col. Osman Zuneidu Sham-un, welcomed the support and outlined key infrastructure needs across GAF schools, including additional classrooms, dormitories, modern laboratories, STEM centres and equipment for technical workshops. The Minister also directed that GAF schools be included in the ongoing GETFund arrangement for educational materials and furniture, while the Armed Forces indicated that preparations were already underway at selected locations to facilitate the proposed projects.

The Honourable Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has concluded a meeting with the leadership of the teacher unions to address concerns relating to the placement of teachers on the appropriate salary scales.

Following the engagement, the teacher unions have agreed to call off their threatened strike action, following assurances and concrete measures agreed upon to resolve the matter.

Among the key resolutions is that teachers will not be required to travel to their respective District Education Offices to submit payslips for the purpose of salary-scale placement.

It was further agreed that close to 80,000 teachers will be appropriately placed on their correct salary scales as part of the process.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is expected to provide the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department with the requisite data to facilitate the necessary adjustments and payments to affected teachers.

The Ministry of Education appreciates the leadership of the teacher unions for their constructive engagement and commitment to resolving the matter in the interest of Ghana’s education system and, most importantly, the welfare of teachers.

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has called on mothers to play a leading role in keeping girls in school, supporting their educational aspirations, and preparing them for leadership. He said empowering mothers is critical to closing Ghana’s gender gap in education and promoting equality.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the 2026 MomCo Conference in Accra, Dr. Apaak noted that mothers have significant influence on the educational outcomes, values, and aspirations of their children, particularly their daughters. He stressed that an empowered mother can help her daughter stay in school, complete her education, and aspire to leadership, while also raising sons who respect women.

Dr. Apaak reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to gender-responsive education and described mothers and MomCo as important partners in advancing gender equality and improving educational outcomes. He said empowering mothers and promoting positive values at home are essential to closing the gender gap in education and building a more equitable society.

The Ministry of Education has reiterated its commitment to working with the Jacobs Foundation to improve foundational learning and education outcomes across Ghana.

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, received a delegation from the Foundation during a courtesy call on the Ministry.

The engagement highlighted the Foundation’s support in helping Ghana unlock US$40 million under the GPE Multiplier Grant, with partner mobilisation bringing total funding to US$80 million to support key education interventions.

Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening the partnership and ensuring that investments in education translate into improved learning outcomes, particularly for children in underserved communities.
