Scaling up in enrolments at almost all cycles of the educational system;

Escalating demands on Educational resources by users at all levels;

Declining public sector spending on Education mainly on account of sluggish growth in the broader economy;

Over-crowded and decrepit Educational infrastructure, including obsolete textbooks and equipment; and,

Recurrent tensions between USERS and EDUCATION SERVICE providers, arising from persistent mismatch between sectoral resources on one hand, and escalating costs of providing services and facilities on the other. This is the backdrop against which the Mandate of the Fund has been set and role of the Board of Trustees designed, all expressly intended to ease these constraints whilst fostering greater access to quality Education and sustainable Human Capital development.

Managing Director of Saka Homes, Kwadwo Saka Addo-Mensah, has partnered with the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to construct a modern two-storey student dormitory at Achimota School.

The project, valued at GH¢18,702,819.08, is expected to provide accommodation for 250 students, helping to address the growing accommodation challenges facing one of Ghana’s premier second-cycle institutions.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve learning conditions and enhance access to quality education by providing adequate residential facilities for students.

Speaking on the project, Mr. Kwadwo Saka Addo-Mensah emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in supporting national development, particularly within the education sector.
Also addressing the media, Mr. Alexis K. Asuinura, Financial Controller of GETFund, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and commended the swift collaboration between GETFund and Saka Homes.

He highlighted the significance of the project in addressing accommodation deficits in senior high schools and praised the commitment of the private sector in supporting educational development.

GETFund Equips Service Personnel with Skills for the Job Market

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has organized an Entrepreneurship Seminar for its National Service Personnel (NSP) to equip them with essential employability and professional development skills, while fostering a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event took place at the GETFund Head Office on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with a strong focus on capacity building. Participants were provided with practical tools and knowledge to help them navigate the nation’s competitive job market and create opportunities for themselves beyond national service.

The seminar brought together experienced professionals who shared practical insights on communication, professionalism, career development, networking, and personal growth to prepare participants for the future.

Delivering the keynote address, Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Bailon Afful, encouraged participants to take advantage of every opportunity available to them. He urged them to network with colleagues across different units and departments in order to learn, grow, and broaden their career prospects.

Speaking at the event, a Principal Manager of Corporate Affairs at GETFund, Mr. Samuel Edem Assisi, emphasized the importance of effective communication in career development, describing communication as the “number one skill” every professional must possess.

He further encouraged participants to always understand their content and audience when communicating. Mr Edem advised them to master the “7Cs” of communication to enhance clarity, confidence, and professionalism in both personal and workplace interactions.

On her part, a Principal Manager of Operations, Grace Afari-Mensah (PhD), stated that beyond academic qualifications, employers increasingly seek qualities such as professionalism, communication skills, teamwork, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities.
Presenting on how to build a strong Curriculum Vitae (CV), a Principal Manager of Human Resource at GETFund, Mrs. Pearl Ama Akordor, highlighted the key elements required in preparing a professional CV. She emphasized the need to include at least academic and professional references when writing a CV.

GETFund Briefs Asantehene on KNUST Hospital Equipment Project

The Administrator of GETFund Mr. Paul Adjei has paid a visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to brief him on progress of the GHS 400 million contract awarded for the procurement of state-of-the-art medical equipment for the new KNUST teaching hospital.
This visit forms part of ongoing engagements by GETFund to update stakeholders on the implementation of the landmark project, which is expected to significantly transform healthcare delivery and medical training in Ghana.
Mr. Adjei briefed the Asantehene on the scope of the project and the processes undertaken toward the award of the contract for the procurement and installation of modern medical equipment for the facility.
The Asantehene expressed appreciation to the GETFund Administrator for his dedication and commitment in helping to bring the vision for the KNUST hospital project into fruition.

JOBERG GH LTD DONATES GHS 2.25 MILLION TO GETFUND for Afife R/C Primary School

JOBerg Ghana Limited, one of Ghana's leading construction and real estate development companies, has made a donation to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund) earmarked for the construction of a six (6)-unit classroom block and a six (6)-seater toilet facility at Afife Roman Catholic (R/C) Primary School in the Volta Region.

The donation, valued at GHS 2,250,000.00, was made under the direct initiative of the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Joseph Magnus Marteye, reflecting a corporate culture deeply rooted in social responsibility and a firm commitment to Ghana's educational development. The gesture marks a significant private-sector contribution to basic school infrastructure in the Ketu North Municipal District in recent years.

The donation forms part of GETFund's new Education Finance and Partnership Initiative (EFPI), a strategic programme setup by GETFund Administrator Mr. Paul Adjei to encourage Ghanaian businesses to directly channel their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investments into the country's education sector.

The initiative is designed to bridge the persistent infrastructure deficit in public schools by mobilising private-sector funding through a structured, transparent, and accountable partnership framework. Under this programme, corporate donors work hand-in-hand with GETFund to identify schools in underserved communities, develop appropriate infrastructure plans, and fund construction to approved national standards.

The construction of a modern six-unit classroom block will expand the capacity of the school and create a safer, more conducive environment for hundreds of pupils. Complementing this, the six-seater toilet facility will bring much-needed dignity and hygiene to the school. Together, the two projects are expected to transform the educational experience at Afife R/C Primary School for generations to come.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, CEO Mr. Marteye noted that the company's success has always been built on giving back, and that investing in the education of Ghanaian children is the most impactful legacy any business can leave. Mr. Paul Adjei who received the donation reiterated GETFund’s avowed commitment to ensuring fruitful collaboration with successful businesses to provide educational infrastructure for all.
