On 10th May, I had the honour of joining my brother and Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, together with colleague Members of Parliament, at the grand finale of the maiden SoYalana Gala Tournament at the Tolon Astro-Turf.

It was truly inspiring to witness the incredible display of talent, discipline, unity, and sportsmanship from the participating teams. I was particularly delighted to present awards to some of the outstanding players and winning teams whose hard work and dedication lit up the competition.

Congratulations to Tolon A for emerging champions, as well as all participating teams for making the tournament memorable.

I commend Hon. Habib Iddrisu for this remarkable initiative to promote grassroots football and empower the youth in the Northern Region. The level of investment, motivation, and support shown through the tournament sets a new standard for community sports development in Ghana.

Together with Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Dr. Adam Mohammed Amin Anta, party executives, football administrators, and supporters, we celebrated a vision that continues to inspire hope and opportunity for the next generation.

The future of Ghana football is bright, and initiatives like this will continue to nurture talent and transform lives.

As Chairman of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs at the Pan-African Parliament, I am focused on driving impactful policies that will improve lives across our continent.

My immediate priorities are clear: tackling malaria, strengthening mental health systems, and promoting traditional medicine within structured and effective healthcare frameworks. These are critical areas that demand urgent attention and coordinated action across African countries.

Beyond this, we are working towards developing model laws that will guide member states in strengthening their health sectors. I am also committed to supporting improved access to cancer treatment, particularly for breast, cervical, and blood-related conditions, with Ghana and Zimbabwe among the countries expected to benefit.

Together, we can build a healthier, stronger Africa.

I am honoured to have been elected as Chairman of the Committee on Health, Social Work and Labour at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) under the Western Caucus.

This responsibility reflects the confidence reposed in me by colleagues from across the West African sub-region, including Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Cape Verde and Togo.

I remain committed to working with my colleagues to advance policies that strengthen healthcare systems, labour rights, and social protection across our continent.

This is not just a personal milestone, but a proud moment for Ghana and Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency.

Together, we will continue to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development and integration.

At the Pan-African Parliament, I joined my colleague lawmakers in important deliberations on leadership and the future of our continental body.

In my contribution, I emphasised the need for unity, compromise and consensus-building among all delegations. We must rise above personal interests and ambitions and work together to present a common candidate that reflects the collective will of Africa.

The truth is, the world is watching us. Our decisions must strengthen the credibility and integrity of both the Pan-African Parliament and the African Union.

At the end of the day, it is not about any individual, it is Africa that must win.

On Sunday, I had the privilege of commissioning five water projects across Amanfro, Oparekrom, Djankrom East, Akwane Dobro, and Papito in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency.

Access to clean water remains a basic necessity, and I am pleased that these projects will ease the burden on our people. I encouraged residents to take good care of these facilities to ensure their sustainability.

I am grateful to the Chiefs, Assembly Members, and community members for their warm reception and continued support. Together, we will keep working to improve lives across our constituency.

I have successfully completed a three-day intensive tour of the Bono East Region, engaging directly with farmers and traders across key constituencies and communities.

Day One took us to Atebubu-Amantin, Pru West, and Kintampo North, where we met farmers dealing in maize, yams, rice, and other crops who are struggling with low prices and a lack of ready markets.

Day Two, we continued to Kintampo South, Nkoranza North, and Nkoranza South. The concerns remained consistent — unsold produce, rising input costs, and growing frustration among farmers whose livelihoods are under serious threat.

Day Three concluded in Techiman North, Techiman South, and the Techiman Market, where traders and farmers alike shared firsthand accounts of the market challenges affecting food supply and incomes.

Across all these engagements, one message stood out clearly: our farmers need urgent support. We will continue to carry their voices forward and push for practical solutions to restore confidence and stability in the agricultural sector.

I have successfully concluded a three-day tour of the Bono Region with my colleagues, engaging directly with our hardworking cocoa farmers across several constituencies and communities.

From Dormaa West (Krakrom), Dormaa Central (Asunsu), Dormaa East (Alhajikrom), and Berekum West (Gyamfikrom), to Berekum East (Akroforo) and Jaman South (Miremano), and finally Sunyani East (Yawsae), Tain (Badu), and Wenchi (Tromeso), the message from farmers was clear and consistent — they are struggling under reduced cocoa prices, delayed payments, and rising production costs.

Many of the farmers shared heartbreaking stories about how these challenges are affecting their livelihoods, families, and ability to sustain their farms. It is evident that urgent action is needed to restore hope in the cocoa sector.

I want to assure all cocoa farmers that your voices have been heard. We will continue to push strongly for the restoration of the previous cocoa price, prompt payment of all outstanding monies, and policies that truly prioritize your welfare.

This fight is far from over. We will not relent until justice is done.

On Saturday, I took the message of our cocoa farmers straight to the airwaves at Nimdee 95.1 FM in Sunyani as part of our ongoing nationwide engagement led by the Minority Caucus.

Our mission is clear — to listen directly to our hardworking cocoa farmers, bring their struggles to the national front, and demand urgent action. Farmers are battling reduced producer prices and delayed payments, and this cannot continue.

We are calling for the immediate restoration of the previous cocoa price and the prompt payment of all monies owed to both farmers and purchasing clerks.

This is more than a tour — it is a national movement. We are determined to hold government accountable, push for fair pricing, protect livelihoods, and ensure that cocoa farmers are prioritized over all other expenditures.

As we continue our engagements with cocoa farmers across the country, one thing remains clear — our farmers are in distress, and government must act with urgency.

It is deeply troubling that while cocoa farmers are struggling with reduced prices and delayed payments, significant public funds are reportedly being spent monthly on party structures.

This raises serious questions about priorities. Our farmers, who sustain a critical sector of the economy, deserve better than neglect and excuses.
I strongly believe that the focus must shift immediately.

The NDC Government must prioritize the cocoa sector by restoring fair producer prices and ensuring prompt payment to farmers. Redirecting resources to support livelihoods, rather than politically driven expenditures, is the only responsible path forward.

We will not relent. We will continue to stand with our farmers and fight for what is right until justice is restored.

I have successfully concluded a three-day working tour of the Ahafo Region with my colleagues from the Minority Caucus, where we engaged chiefs, cocoa farmers, and key stakeholders across several communities.

The purpose of this tour was simple—to listen directly to the people at the heart of the cocoa industry, and what we heard was deeply troubling. From traditional leaders to farmers, there was a clear and consistent message of hardship, frustration, and disappointment over the recent cocoa price cut and delays in payment.

Many farmers shared painful stories about how they are struggling to survive, feed their families, and sustain their farms. They reminded us of the promises made to them—promises of better prices and improved livelihoods—which today remain unfulfilled. It is unacceptable that the very people who sustain our economy are left to suffer while decisions are taken without adequately considering their realities.

I want to assure all cocoa farmers that we hear you, we stand with you, and we will fight for you. The Minority will continue to demand accountability and push for the restoration of fair cocoa prices and prompt payment for your produce.

Your voice matters, and we will not relent until justice is done.
