Today on the floor of Parliament, I emphasized that Ghana's participation in the global carbon market must always be guided by transparency, accountability and the national interest. While the carbon economy presents enormous opportunities for investment, job creation and climate financing, we must ensure that our natural resources and climate commitments are never traded away for short-term gains.

I called on Government to strengthen the regulatory framework, protect the interests of our communities, invest in Ghanaian expertise and guarantee that every carbon project delivers real benefits to the people. Ghana has the opportunity to become a leader in Africa's carbon market, but we must do so responsibly by safeguarding our environment, supporting sustainable development and securing a better future for generations yet unborn.

Today on the floor of Parliament, I called for greater urgency in advancing government business by urging all sector ministers to present their pending bills before the House without further delay. Parliament is ready to discharge its constitutional mandate, but we cannot effectively do so if critical legislation remains outstanding.

While commending ministers who consistently honour their parliamentary responsibilities, I appealed to those yet to submit their bills to do so in the interest of national development. The timely passage of legislation is essential to strengthening our institutions, implementing government policies, and delivering meaningful progress for the people of Ghana. Parliament must remain productive, accountable, and focused on serving the national interest.

Today on the floor of Parliament, I called for more time to debate the devastating floods that have affected communities across Ghana. This is not the moment to limit the voices of Members of Parliament when thousands of our fellow citizens have lost loved ones, homes, businesses, and livelihoods. Parliament must stand with the victims by giving adequate attention to their concerns and ensuring their voices are heard.

I also urged the House to uphold its own procedures while reminding colleagues that the suffering of flood victims must remain a national priority. The people of Greater Accra, the Central Region, the Western Region, and every affected community deserve more than our sympathy—they deserve action, accountability, and meaningful support. We owe it to them to ensure that their plight receives the attention it deserves in Parliament.

Today on the floor of Parliament, I reiterated my commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Our brothers and sisters living with disabilities are not asking for sympathy; they are demanding equal opportunities, dignity, and the full implementation of rights already guaranteed under the law.

I called for the urgent review of the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715) to address key concerns raised by disability groups, including a minimum employment quota, tax relief measures, and stronger enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance. I also urged Cabinet to expedite consideration of the proposed amendments so that Parliament can take the necessary steps to strengthen the legal framework and improve the lives of PWDs across the country.

As leaders, we must move beyond commemorative events and work towards practical solutions that promote inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment for all. Together, we can build a Ghana where every citizen, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.

Today, my heart is filled with gratitude as I witness hundreds of our brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers benefiting from the Free Eye Surgery Programme at Valley View University. Seeing residents of Nsawam-Adoagyiri regain their sight and hope is a reminder of why public service must always be about touching lives and creating opportunities for our people.

This intervention follows our successful constituency-wide eye screening exercise, and I am pleased that my office was able to provide free transportation and support for beneficiaries undergoing the surgeries. I remain committed to investing in the health and well-being of the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri because every resident deserves access to quality healthcare and a better quality of life. Together, we will continue to build a healthier and more prosperous constituency.

Healthcare remains one of my top priorities, and I am delighted to support the Nsawam Government Hospital with a donation of GH¢208,745 from my Common Fund allocation to facilitate the expansion of the hospital's Out-Patient Department (OPD), including improvements to antenatal, laboratory, and related healthcare services. The cheque was presented on my behalf by former Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Owusu Arthur, following a request from the hospital's management to help address the growing pressure on the facility.

The Nsawam Government Hospital continues to play a critical role in healthcare delivery, recording over 174,000 OPD visits, 5,000 deliveries, and approximately 15,000 admissions annually. These figures clearly demonstrate the urgent need for expanded infrastructure to meet the growing healthcare demands of residents within Nsawam-Adoagyiri and surrounding communities. I am encouraged by the assurance from hospital management that these funds will be used prudently to improve patient care, reduce congestion, and create a more conducive environment for both patients and health workers.

My commitment to improving healthcare in the constituency remains unwavering. Beyond this donation, work is progressing steadily on the ultra-modern maternity ward project currently under construction at the hospital, which will provide additional neonatal and theatre facilities upon completion. I thank the hospital administration for their partnership and kind words of appreciation, and I assure the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri that I will continue to support initiatives that improve access to quality healthcare and enhance the well-being of our communities.

When we first announced our decision to embark on a nationwide tour to engage cocoa farmers, many people doubted us. Some mocked the initiative, while others questioned why we were leaving Parliament to visit farming communities. But we remained focused because we believed the voices of our hardworking farmers deserved to be heard.

Over the past weeks, together with my colleagues in the Minority Caucus, we travelled across the cocoa-growing regions of Ghana, meeting farmers, chiefs, purchasing clerks, traders and other stakeholders. We listened to their concerns about reduced cocoa prices, delayed payments, lack of buyers, and the economic hardship confronting farming communities.

What we witnessed on the ground was both heartbreaking and revealing.

Today, that journey has produced a comprehensive report which we have officially presented to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The report captures the realities facing our farmers and will contribute to shaping practical policy alternatives for the future. I am grateful to every farmer, chief and stakeholder who shared their experiences with us. This exercise was never about politics; it was about standing with our farmers, amplifying their voices, and ensuring that their concerns receive the attention they deserve. The fight for the Ghanaian farmer continues, and we will not relent until their interests are protected.

Yesterday's heavy rainstorm caused significant damage to parts of the Nsawam Presbyterian School, leaving several classrooms exposed and disrupting academic activities.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, I immediately directed a team led by former Municipal Chief Executive, Emmanuel Owusu Arthur, together with party executives and community stakeholders, to visit the school and conduct an on-the-ground assessment of the damage.

The delegation engaged school authorities and inspected the affected structures to determine the extent of the destruction and the urgent interventions required.

Following the assessment, arrangements have been made for carpenters to commence work on re-roofing the damaged sections of the school. The safety and well-being of our children remain a priority, and we are committed to ensuring that teaching and learning continue in a safe and conducive environment.

I thank the school authorities, parents, and community members for their cooperation and assure them of my continued support in addressing the challenges facing educational institutions within the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency.
