Ghana Immigration Service has conducted an intelligence-led operation across Greater Accra and Ashanti, targeting syndicates that traffic and exploit foreigners for forced begging.

Officers picked up 1,055 West African Nationals, with the majority being Nigeriens,one Nigerien woman in custody has been delivered of a baby girl same day.
662 children were rescued.
Some suspected Ghanaians accused of acting as local agents have also been detained.

Fifty trainers and staff of the Immigration Service Academy and Training School (ISATS), Assin Fosu and the Immigration Service Mid-Country Training School (ISMTS), Tepa, have benefited from a ten-day training session designed to introduce the Trainer Corps of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to a new and improved instructional model.
The training aimed to standardise training delivery across all Immigration Service schools and promote the use of adult-learning pedagogically techniques in the training of new cadets and recruits.

Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI), Francis Yaw Tachie, the Commandant of ISATS who chaired the Assin Fosu training, emphasised the need for a paradigm shift in training to equip new trainees with the knowledge and skills required to address emerging migration and border-security challenges.
The lead facilitator of the training, Chief Superintendent Abdul Razak Tahiru, encouraged trainers to embrace new approaches that would enhance their ability to impart knowledge to adult learners. Notable participants included , Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Daniel Debrah; the Commanding Officer of the Training School at ISATS; and ACI Mary Owusu, the Commanding Officer of ISMTS, Tepa.
During the training period, the schools conducted pre-assessments for cadets and recruits to determine their baseline knowledge ahead of their respective courses.

The Hamile Sector Command held its maiden fun games, dubbed the “Hamile Sector Pentagonal Fun Games 2026,” at the McCoy Astro Turf in Nadowli. Organized under the theme, “Unity Through Sports: A Tool for Securing Territorial Boundaries Against External Aggression,” the event sought to foster unity, teamwork, and camaraderie among officers. Personnel from the Hamile Sector Command, Hamile Border Post, Nandom, Lawra, Jirapa, and Nadowli-Kaleo Commands competed for bragging rights across six sporting disciplines. The event was graced by the Upper West Regional Commander, DCOI Justice Bosomtwe Ayensu, the DCE for Nadowli-Kaleo, Hon. Mary Haruna, and the Hamile Sector Commander, Chief Supt. Mananu Mohammed.

GIS in collaboration with IOM and the Coastal States Stability Mechanism, is set to pilot the Community Engagement and Policing (CEP) Strategy at Namoo in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region. This pilot program is designed to deepen trust and cooperation between local communities and Immigration officers, while tackling pressing challenges such as irregular migration and organized crime.

Key activities under the pilot will include broad-based community consultations, specialized CEP training, the establishment of a Community Prevention Forum (CPF), and the development of a comprehensive community safety plan.
