The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) is an ECOWAS-mandated Training Centre of Excellence in Africa. The Centre delivers training courses in Peace Support Operations, Conflict Management and Peace and Security Studies and also runs Masters and PhD programmes in same. The KAIPTC has a world-class research department that undertakes research in thematic areas in Peace an

d Security. Located in Accra, Ghana, the KAIPTC is an internationally-recognized institution and has till date trained and tutored over 13,600 students since its inception.

We are excited to launch our Stakeholder Spotlight Series, celebrating the individuals and partners whose contributions have strengthened KAIPTC’s growth and global impact in peace and security. We begin with the remarkable legacy of H.E. Kofi Annan, whose name our Centre proudly carries. As the first African UN Secretary-General and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Kofi Annan transformed global diplomacy, advanced human rights, and redefined international peacekeeping through visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to humanity.

His gracious permission in his lifetime for the Centre to bear his name reflected his belief in Africa’s leadership in global peace and security-a belief that continues to inspire our work today. His principles of courage, humility, justice, and compassion guide KAIPTC’s mission as a trusted hub for training, research and policy engagement across the continent.

As we launch this series, we honour his enduring global legacy and reaffirm our commitment to the peaceful world he envisioned.

Pupils from Healthy Mind International School had an exciting educational visit to the KAIPTC, where they gained valuable insights into the Centre’s role in promoting peace, security, leadership, and peacebuilding across Africa.
