At the end of August, sunflowers bloom across Ukraine’s fields. It was twelve years ago, when in August 2014 these fields became the setting of the events of the Ilovaisk tragedy. As Ukrainian soldiers were leaving the encirclement through the “green” corridor, they were attacked by Russian forces.

Since then, the sunflower has become a symbol of remembrance for Ukraine’s fallen defenders. Every year on August 29, we honour all those who gave their lives defending Ukraine throughout more than 12 years of Russia’s brutal aggression.

We remember their faces, their names, their stories. We bow our heads in honour of every man and woman who gave their life for Ukraine.

🇺🇦🤝🇬🇭 Українська громада в Гані об’єднується та інституціалізується!
Місцеві українці давно прагнули мати спільний простір для єднання, взаємної підтримки та спільних справ. Більше того, представники української громади свого часу самі активно ініціювали і з нетерпінням очікували на відкриття Посольства України в Республіці Гана, сподіваючись, що його поява допоможе українцям тут стати ближчими один до одного та активніше розвивати спільні ініціативи.
І сьогодні ми раді повідомити про важливий крок на цьому шляху: установчий акт про створення Асоціації української громади в Гані нотаріально посвідчений, зареєстрований у встановленому законодавством порядку та офіційно опублікований.
Два роки роботи Посольства стали для українців, які живуть у Гані, часом активного спілкування, знайомств та спільних ініціатив. Це допомогло сформувати ще сильніше розуміння необхідності мати правову основу для розвитку української громади та її подальшого об’єднання.
Створення Асоціації — це насамперед результат ініціативи, наполегливості та бажання самих українців бути разом. Це нові можливості для взаємної підтримки, розвитку бізнесових та економічних зв’язків, реалізації культурних, гуманітарних та освітніх проєктів.
Посольство України в Гані відкрите до співпраці з новоствореною Асоціацією та з кожним українцем і кожною українкою, які живуть у Гані — без винятку. Адже ми можемо мати різні погляди, досвід чи підходи, але нас значно більше єднає Україна. Наша сила — у єдності, взаємній повазі та готовності підтримувати одне одного.
Переконані, що спільними зусиллями зможемо робити більше — для українців у Гані, для зміцнення дружніх зв’язків між Україною та Ганою та для гідного представлення України в Африці.
Щиро вітаємо та дякуємо всім, хто доклав своїх сил до цієї важливої справи, зокрема засновникам та організаторам української громади в Гані — Президентці Асоціації Франсуазі Артур, Віцепрезидентці Каріні Квей та Анастасії Булей — за наполегливість, час і відданість ідеї єднання.
Нехай Асоціація стане новою точкою опори для українців у Гані — місцем, де можна знайти підтримку, друзів і можливість разом робити добрі та важливі справи.
Разом — сильніші!

Moreover, members of the Ukrainian community actively initiated and eagerly anticipated the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana, hoping that its establishment would bring Ukrainians here closer together and spark joint initiatives.Today, we are thrilled to announce a significant milestone on this journey: the Incorporating Act of the Association of the Ukrainian Community in Ghana has been notarized, registered in accordance with local legislation, and officially published.Two years of the Embassy’s work have been a time of active communication, networking, and shared initiatives for Ukrainians living in Ghana. This has fostered an even stronger understanding of the need for a legal foundation to develop and further unite the Ukrainian community.The creation of the Association is, above all, the result of the initiative, perseverance, and desire of Ukrainians themselves to stand together. It opens up new opportunities for mutual support, the development of business and economic ties, and the realization of cultural, humanitarian, and educational projects.The Embassy of Ukraine in Ghana remains open to cooperation with the newly established Association and with every Ukrainian living in Ghana — without exception. We may have different views, backgrounds, or approaches, but we are bound by something far greater: Ukraine. 170 years ago, Ivan Franko was born in Ukraine’s west. He went on to become a hugely influential Ukrainian writer, poet, journalist, translator, and public figure.

He knew 14 languages, wrote thousands of works, and was one of the first Ukrainians to make a living from writing. He was a passionate advocate of Ukrainian national identity and believed Ukrainians should be free to shape their own future.

One of his best-known works, «Moses,» uses a biblical story to reflect on the struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom.

His enormous literary and intellectual legacy made him one of the central figures of Ukrainian culture – and his ideas still resonate.

Міністерство закордонних справ України спільно з Державною податковою службою розширюють доступ українців за кордоном до повністю дистанційної послуги з отримання електронної картки платника податків (РНОКПП).

Очільник МЗС Андрій Сибіга підкреслив, що новий порядок надання послуги є ще одним кроком на шляху цифровізації державних сервісів для громадян України за кордоном.

У травні цього року було впроваджено першу частину сервісу – оформлення податкового номера дітям. За цей час послугою скористалися понад 2 тисячі громадян, а картки отримали 1730 дітей без необхідності їхати в Україну або пересилати паперові документи.

З 30 липня отримати електронну картку платника податків через систему "е-Консул" може кожен громадянин України за кордоном, який має дійсний документ, що посвідчує особу.

Подати заяву можна у такий спосіб:

▪️ особисто (від 14 років) шляхом звернення до найближчого посольства чи консульства України

▪️ через законного представника або уповноважену особу (батьків, опікунів, піклувальників або представників за нотаріальною довіреністю) онлайн через власний електронний кабінет у системі "е-Консул" або особисто під час візиту до дипломатичної установи

Важливо! Самостійне подання заяви через власний електронний кабінет в системі "е-Консул" є безкоштовним. У разі подання заяви через посольство чи консульство стягується консульський збір за обробку даних у розмірі 40 доларів США (37 євро).

Every nation remembers the day when it declared itself free. For Ghana, that day is 6 March 1957, the day when the national flag bearing the Black Star was raised over Accra for the first time, and Kwame Nkrumah declared that Africa would no longer ask for freedom but would take it.

Today, we celebrate 35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence and honour our centuries-long history.

Millions of Ukrainians before us made this day possible – nurturing and defending our language, culture and dignity, and carrying forward an enduring desire for freedom.

But our unity is rooted not only in our shared heritage. Millions of Ukrainians make Independence Day possible today and for years to come – and for that we are immensely grateful. We honour our defenders and remember all those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence.

On this celebratory day, and on every day, Ukrainians have each other.

Our gratitude also goes to every partner who stands with Ukraine and works with us towards a lasting peace. And we are inspired to build a future together – a free, secure, innovative and prosperous European Ukraine.

The proclamation of independence in 1991 did not mark the beginning of Ukrainian statehood; rather, it was the culmination of centuries of history and a long struggle to restore a sovereign Ukrainian state.

Throughout different periods of history, from the era of Kyivan Rus to the Hetmanate and the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the people of these lands experienced various forms of statehood and governance. On 24 August 1991, Ukraine restored its independence after decades of Soviet rule — returning to an independent Ukrainian state whose establishment had been proclaimed by the Ukrainian People’s Republic more than a century earlier.

Words matter — they shape how we understand history. Saying that Ukraine restored its independence, rather than that it was “born” in 1991, acknowledges this longer historical continuity and the role of generations of Ukrainians who contributed to shaping the country into what it is today.
