The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) Ghana Office proudly celebrates Dr. Ralph Armah, Medical Director of Tema General Hospital, Ghana, on his recognition as one of Africa’s Most Influential Leaders at the 100 African Persons Awards.

Dr. Armah holds a special place in the KOFIH Global Alumni (KGA) family as the first President of the KGA and a past President whose leadership, dedication, and commitment have contributed immensely to the Alumni network's growth.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Armah has demonstrated a strong commitment to humanitarian service, healthcare, and supporting others, reflecting the values that the KOFIH Global Alumni community stands for.

Today, we celebrate Mr. Bo Min Yang as he concludes his three-year journey with the KOFIH Ghana Office as Country Director.

Over the past three years, Mr. Yang has provided dedicated leadership and contributed meaningfully to KOFIH’s work to strengthen health systems and improve access to in Ghana. Through his commitment, collaboration with partners, and support for major programmes, he has helped advance the shared vision of building stronger and more responsive healthcare systems.

His time in Ghana has been marked by meaningful partnerships, valuable contributions, and a genuine commitment to the people and communities we serve.

At his farewell meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Health (MoH), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the KOFIH Global Alumni (KGA) joined the KOFIH Ghana Office to celebrate his service and recognize the strong partnerships built during his tenure.

We are deeply grateful for his leadership, dedication, and the lasting impact of his service to KOFIH and Ghana.

As he returns to Korea and begins the next chapter of his journey, we extend our sincere appreciation and warmest wishes for continued success and fulfilment. We will always remember his three years of service to KOFIH Ghana with gratitude.

Navigating healthcare in a new country is not always easy. Knowing where to go, how to access the right services, and communicating your needs can be challenging, especially when you are far from home.

For Koreans living in Ghana, KOFIH is working to make that experience a easier.

We are pleased to announce the signing of our third Medical Service Agreement, this time with THE BANK HOSPITAL

Through this partnership, KOFIH is helping to make access to medical services smoother for Koreans in Ghana, while expanding the network of healthcare providers available to them when they need care.

This agreement is another step in KOFIH’s commitment to supporting access to quality healthcare in Ghana, while making sure that Koreans living and working here can access dependable medical services and receive the care and support they need, even when they are far from home. 🇰🇷🤝🇬🇭

It is always important to understand the current situation and the needs on the ground to identify what works, what doesn’t, and where support is needed most.

With this in mind, KOFIH and a team of researchers from Yonsei University in the Republic of Korea spent time in the Volta and Oti Regions last week, engaging healthcare professionals, community members, and visiting health facilities to gain firsthand insights into the realities of emergency service delivery.

The knowledge and perspectives gathered during the visit will serve as the foundation for our Emergency Medical Service-Centred Health System Strengthening Project, ensuring that every intervention is informed by evidence, shaped by local realities, and designed to strengthen emergency care where it is needed most.

Twenty years after the passing of Dr LEE Jong-wook, his legacy continues to improve lives in communities where access to healthcare matters most.

In Abutia Kpota, in the Volta Region, the Dr LEE Jong-wook Memorial Health Centre welcomes mothers seeking maternal care, patients in need of quality healthcare, and health workers dedicated to saving lives every single day.

Guided by the values of the man who spent 23 years at the World Health Organization leading global efforts against polio, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS, KOFIH continues to support governments in improving access to healthcare.

Today, we remember his life, his service, and the enduring impact of his vision.
