Deputy Minister Welcomes Diaspora Investment Conference in Ghana

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, has welcomed plans by U.S.-based entrepreneur Dr. Makeda Smith to host her organisation’s 8th annual investment conference in Ghana from September 3–5, 2026. The conference will bring together diaspora investors, business owners and local stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.

Dr. Smith said she has visited Ghana about 10 times since 2023, organised three retreats and supported 22 diaspora and local investors to invest in a real estate project at East Lagoon Hills.

The conference will feature an African-themed gala, a main conference at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, over 24 speakers, business exhibitions and more than 50 U.S.-based participants. Activities will also include real estate tours, visits to Cape Coast and a Black Star City Tour.

Hon. Jajah urged the organisers to engage the Ghana Tourism Authority to explore collaboration and support, while indicating that the Ministry could participate in the opening ceremony, subject to arrangements and availability.

What We Inherit from the Past Is Not Ours to Destroy – Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on Ghanaians to take collective responsibility for protecting the country’s historic forts and castles, stressing that they must be preserved and passed on to future generations.
She made the call at the launch of the Ghana-Korea Heritage Project, a five-year initiative focused on protecting six historic forts and castles in Accra from climate-related threats such as coastal erosion and increased rainfall.

The partnership will combine Ghana’s rich heritage with Korean digital technologies and scientific expertise to strengthen conservation, documentation, research, capacity building, community participation and cultural tourism.

The project, running through 2030, is also expected to deepen Ghana-Korea cultural ties and demonstrate how international cooperation and technology can help safeguard heritage for generations to come.

The launch culminated in the unveiling of the Korea-Ghana Heritage Conservation Project plaque at the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, marking the formal commencement of the partnership.

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Inaugurates Ghana-Korea Heritage Project Steering Committee🇬🇭🇰🇷

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has inaugurated the Ghana-Korea Heritage Project Steering Committee to provide strategic oversight for a five-year programme focused on preserving Ghana’s heritage sites and strengthening their resilience to climate change.

The project will support climate-risk mapping, digital surveying and 3D modelling, joint research, capacity building, community engagement and modern monitoring technologies.

Korea is also providing specialised equipment, including drones, 3D scanners, digital microscopes, thermal imaging cameras and GPS survey instruments, to enhance Ghana’s capacity to scientifically assess, document and conserve heritage structures.

The partnership, which will run through 2030 and beyond, is expected to deepen Ghana-Korea cultural ties while promoting sustainable, technology-driven and climate-adaptive heritage management for future generations.

Hon. Gomashie Urges AWA to Promote Ghana’s Tourist Attractions 🇬🇭✈️

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged Africa World Airlines (AWA) to incorporate information on Ghana’s tourist attractions into its passenger experience to promote domestic tourism.

Speaking during a meeting with AWA, the Minister encouraged the airline to highlight destinations such as Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, Tano Boase and Kintampo Waterfalls, particularly through in-flight announcements and other destination information.

She also welcomed AWA’s proposed new E190 aircraft branding, which incorporates Ghana’s red, gold and green colours, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s cultural identity and tourism offerings to travellers across Africa and beyond.

The initiative seeks to position AWA as a “flying ambassador” for Ghana, while strengthening collaboration between the aviation and tourism sectors.

Hon. Gomashie Calls for Stronger Partnership to Unlock Ghana’s Creative Arts Potential

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for stronger collaboration between government, private sector and creative arts practitioners to unlock the full economic potential of Ghana’s creative industry.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement in Accra, she stressed the need to listen to practitioners, strengthen institutions, improve funding and infrastructure, protect intellectual property, and create more opportunities for Ghanaian creative products to reach global markets.

The Creative Arts Agency also highlighted initiatives including GH¢20 million seed funding, improved registration and licensing, skills development, welfare support and a Creative Arts Housing Project.

Stakeholders subsequently discussed key challenges, including funding, intellectual property, infrastructure, market access and professional development.

🇬🇭🇰🇷 Ghana-Korea Heritage Partnership Must Go Beyond Financial Support

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for Ghana’s heritage partnership with Korea to go beyond financial and technical support, emphasizing people-to-people exchanges, cultural understanding and youth engagement.

The Ghana–Korea project, aligned with UNESCO’s 2022 and 2024 recommendations, will strengthen the capacity of Ghanaian heritage professionals, involve local communities and support Ghana in taking greater responsibility for protecting and managing its heritage sites.

The Minister also highlighted potential Danish collaboration to improve Osu Castle, with possible future support for Fort Prinzenstein in the Volta Region. Korean cultural anthropologist Kwon Soo Han commended Ghana’s commitment and described the initiative as a potential model for international heritage cooperation.

We Must Be Deliberate in Educating Youth, African Descendants on Our True History- Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for deliberate efforts to educate young people and the African diaspora about Ghana’s true history and its shared heritage with Europe.
She made the call during discussions with a Danish delegation on a proposed pilot project to preserve and restore Osu Castle. The initiative, supported by a proposed DKK 1 million in funding, aims to strengthen Ghana-Denmark cooperation in heritage preservation and historical interpretation.

The Minister stressed that preserving forts and castles must go beyond protecting buildings—it must also ensure that accurate, balanced and meaningful stories are told to future generations.

Ghana is also working with South Korea on the restoration of six UNESCO heritage sites, demonstrating the country’s commitment to building international partnerships to safeguard its cultural heritage.
