‎That is the ambition behind our partnership with Ghana and Northshore in Savelugu.
‎
‎With €2.5 million in support through .de, Germany is proud to contribute to Northshore’s ambition to build a stronger textile and garment value chain in Ghana. This forms part of a broader financing partnership, with Ghana EXIM Bank also providing significant financial support for the development of the facility. Further financial cooperation has also been made available through the Development Bank Ghana, the Ghana Eximbank and Absa Bank to support Northshore’s operations and expansion.

‎Beyond financing, GIZ Ghana is supporting Ghana’s textile and garment industry to meet international social and environmental standards, improve production efficiency and connect Ghanaian manufacturers with international buyers.
‎
‎Already, around 2,300 jobs have been created at Northshore, including opportunities for persons with disabilities who are being trained to work on the factory floor. This demonstrates that industrialisation can be both ambitious and inclusive.

‎As Ghana and Germany approach 70 years of diplomatic relations, we want to continue building partnerships that create jobs, strengthen industries, expand opportunities and deliver shared prosperity. 🇬🇭🇩🇪

Ambassador Frederik Landshöft had the pleasure of meeting Miss Juliet Selase Etefe, a journalist and Online Editor at the Business and Financial Times (B&FT), who will soon begin her Master’s in International Media Studies at the DW Akademie in Bonn, Germany.

Juliet has worked closely with the Embassy, and we are delighted to see her take this next step in her professional and academic journey.

Her upcoming studies are also a reflection of the strong collaboration between Ghana and Germany in the field of journalism and media. Through institutions such as DW Akademie, Germany continues to support the professional development of journalists and strengthen media capacities, creating opportunities for journalists to deepen their skills and contribute to a stronger, more informed media landscape.

We wish Juliet every success as she begins this exciting new chapter in Bonn! 🇬🇭🇩🇪

During his exchange with Colonel (Rtd.) Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Special Envoy of the President of Ghana to the Alliance of Sahelian States (AES), Ambassador Frederik Landshöft commended the envoy's remarkable efforts to rebuild dialogue and strengthen security cooperation across West Africa.

Their very open and trustful conversation focused on the close partnership between Ghana and Germany on peace and security in the Sahel and the wider region.

Ghana and Germany are both middle powers and democracies that take responsibility for peace and security in their respective regions. They share a strong belief in international cooperation, multilateralism and a rules-based international order, and understand that regional security requires countries to work together across political divides.

Over the past year, President Mahama and his Special Envoy have invested considerable diplomatic effort in rebuilding trust between the Sahel and its neighbours and bringing actors back together around their shared security challenges. Ghana’s proposed Sahel–Gulf of Guinea Accord offers a particularly promising approach: pragmatic cooperation among countries willing to work together against terrorism, violent extremism and transnational organised crime, even where broader political differences remain.

Germany values having Ghana as a reliable democratic partner at the heart of these efforts and stands ready to support African-led approaches that strengthen cooperation, stability and resilience.

Because security in West Africa does not stop at the borders of the region. It matters to Europe as well.

🌊 On World Lake Day, we take a moment to recognise the vital role lakes play in the wellbeing of nations and communities around the world.

Lake Volta has been a pillar of Ghana's development for decades, powering homes through the Akosombo Dam while sustaining livelihoods through fishing, farming and trade. Lake Constance, shared by Germany and its neighbours, plays its own important role, supporting tourism and the everyday life of the communities around it.

As climate change continues to shape our water resources, caring for our lakes matters now more than ever, not just for the people who depend on them today, but for generations still to come.

This World Lake Day, every effort to protect our lakes counts. 💧
