‎Young people who spend time in another country often become some of the most effective ambassadors of mutual understanding. Through their experiences, friendships and daily interactions, they help build lasting connections between societies that no official programme alone could create.

‎Ambassador Frederik Landshöft welcomed a group of North-South volunteers at his residence in Accra for an exchange on their experiences, opportunities and challenges during their time in Ghana.

‎The gathering provided a valuable opportunity to connect volunteers from different regions of the country, discuss practical aspects of their stay & reflect on the important role intercultural exchange plays in strengthening the relationship between Germany and Ghana.

‎Through their engagement, volunteers gain unique insights into Ghanaian society, build lasting personal connections and contribute to mutual understanding between our two countries.

‎The weltwärts programme, funded by the German Federal Government, makes this engagement possible by equipping young people with intercultural skills and perspectives that remain relevant long after their return.

‎We thank all volunteers for their commitment and wish them a rewarding and inspiring continuation of their journey in Ghana. 🇩🇪🤝🏽

In a world of increasingly complex conflicts and tightening resources, peacekeeping remains one of the smartest investments we can make. 🔴

🌍 Every day, thousands of UN 🇺🇳 peacekeepers stand on the frontlines of peace, protecting communities, supporting stability, and helping create the conditions for a safer future.

Today, more than 50,000 military, police, and civilian personnel serve in UN peace operations worldwide, working alongside regional partners, including the African Union, to address some of the world’s most complex challenges.

On , we honour their courage, professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice. Today, we also remember the 59 peacekeepers who lost their lives in service last year, among them a Ghanaian peacekeeper who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of peace. Their commitment to peace will not be forgotten.

🇩🇪 Germany remains one of the largest financial supporters of UN peacekeeping globally, contributing more than 6% of the UN peacekeeping budget and supporting international efforts through training, expertise, and personnel deployments.

🇬🇭 Ghana is not only one of the largest troop contributors to UN peacekeeping missions, with around 1,900 military and police personnel currently serving in UN operations, but also the leading contributor of female peacekeepers worldwide.

Together, Ghana and Germany exemplify peace built through partnership, commitment, and collective action. Investing in peace means investing in a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.

Because football has never been just a game... ⚽🌍

This week, we celebrated World Football Day — and more than 100 years since the first truly international football tournament took place in Paris 🇫🇷.

Football is a force that connects people across borders, cultures, and generations. From local community pitches to the world’s biggest stadiums, football creates opportunity, pride, belonging, and hope.

From Germany 🇩🇪 to Africa 🌍, the beautiful game continues to build bridges through grassroots partnerships, youth empowerment, and coaching exchange. In Ghana 🇬🇭, for example, Borussia Dortmund’s academy and the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy in Accra are helping create pathways for young players, including scholarship opportunities for underprivileged talent. 🇩🇪🤝🇬🇭⚽

From Germany’s FIFA World Cup triumphs to South Africa 🇿🇦 hosting the first FIFA World Cup on African soil, football continues to unite us in ways few things can.

And now, Europe’s biggest showdown awaits this weekend: Arsenal 🔴 or PSG - Paris Saint-Germain🔵 — who will reign supreme? 👀🏆

What happens when cultures don’t just coexist — but connect? 🌍✨

Across Africa and Europe, artists, museums and heritage organisations are coming together to exchange stories, creativity, and traditions across borders — creating space for dialogue, collaboration, and shared understanding. 🤝

Through the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture Programme (AEPC) of the European Union 🇪🇺 and the Goethe-Institut 🇩🇪, cultural collaboration is being strengthened across the two continents through three components:

🌍 A Sub-Saharan strand supporting artist mobility, cultural spaces, and visual & performing arts collaboration.
🤝 A Southern Africa strand focused on heritage narratives, peer learning, and regional exchange.
🎭 A West Africa strand supporting festivals and capacity building for arts professionals.

This World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development reminds us that cultural exchange is more than celebration — it’s a powerful tool for connection, understanding and sustainable development.
