35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence. 35 years of choosing its own path.

Today, Ukraine’s resilience inspires Europe and the world. Its people are defending their freedoms and their right to determine their own future.

We stand with Ukraine with unwavering resolve. From welcoming over four million people in EU countries to delivering critical energy and humanitarian aid, we continue to provide steadfast support to Ukraine.

Together with EU countries, we have mobilised over €220 billion to keep essential public services running, rebuild critical infrastructure, and strengthen defence capabilities.

There is only one path to a just and lasting peace: a strong Ukraine.

We are by your side, today and every day.

Today, Ukraine’s resilience inspires Europe and the world. The EU stand with Ukraine with unwavering resolve.

Happy Independence Day!

🇺🇦 Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!

Today, we celebrate 35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence and honour our centuries-long history.

Millions of Ukrainians before us made this day possible – nurturing and defending our language, culture and dignity, and carrying forward an enduring desire for freedom.

But our unity is rooted not only in our shared heritage. Millions of Ukrainians make Independence Day possible today and for years to come – and for that we are immensely grateful. We honour our defenders and remember all those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence.

On this celebratory day, and on every day, Ukrainians have each other.

Our gratitude also goes to every partner who stands with Ukraine and works with us towards a lasting peace. And we are inspired to build a future together – a free, secure, innovative and prosperous European Ukraine.

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes! 🇺🇦

⚕️Pharmaceuticals Made in Ghana, for Ghana 🇬🇭 .

Yesterday, we celebrated eight Ghanaian research and industry collaborations selected to receive up to EUR 2 million in R&D grants and technical support under the PharmaVax Ghana Programme.

The Research Meets Manufacturing Award Ceremony brought together representatives from government, academia, industry and international partners.

Among the distinguished guests were Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ghana, Mr. Jonas Claes, Chargé d’affaires and Head of Political Section at the EU Delegation to Ghana, and Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, CEO of the National Vaccine Institute - Ghana (NVI).

The eight winning projects span a wide range of innovations — from child-friendly malaria medicines, herbal treatments and locally produced vaccines and antitoxins to AI-supported antibody discovery and diagnostic development for Mpox and malaria.

Together, they demonstrate the potential of Ghanaian research, local manufacturing and innovation to turn health challenges into practical solutions – Made in Ghana, for Ghana.

The grants are part of PharmaVax Ghana, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the National Vaccine Institute - Ghana, co-funded by the European Union in Ghana and the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ).

And there is more to come!

Over the coming days, we will zoom in on each of the eight winning projects and introduce the teams behind them and the innovations they are developing. Stay tuned! 🔬
