The Youth Employment Agency held a staff durbar in the Oti Region as part of its ongoing regional tour, bringing together staff and management to discuss the Agency’s progress, future initiatives, and collective responsibilities toward achieving its mandate.
Present at the engagement were the Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, Deputy CEO (Operations), Abubakari Saana Abdul-Kudus, and members of management.
Addressing staff, Deputy CEO Abubakari Saana Abdul-Kudus emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and teamwork within the Agency. He reminded staff that YEA is one family and encouraged them to see one another as partners in progress while upholding professionalism, respecting hierarchy, and remaining time-conscious in the discharge of their duties.
In his address, the CEO commended staff for their dedication and hard work, stating that the Agency’s achievements, including the recruitment of over 86,000 youth, would not have been possible without their collective efforts. He highlighted some of the Agency’s key interventions and achievements, including the introduction of the Community Medical First Response (CMFR) module, the recruitment of 6,000 Arabic instructors, ongoing skills training programmes, and the expansion of the Labour Exchange Programme aimed at providing international work experience opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
The CEO further announced that beneficiaries under the skills training and CMFR modules will soon receive toolkits to support their work within their communities. He also touched on plans to distribute 2,000 electric bikes to support delivery services for young people, as well as the decentralization of Monitoring & Evaluation and validation exercises to improve operational efficiency across districts.
The engagement reaffirmed management’s commitment to strengthening the Agency, improving staff welfare, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth of Ghana.
