On 29th May 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), Mr. Alex Mould, had the privilege of speaking at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) School of Graduate Studies Practitioners’ Forum 2026, held under the theme: “Supply Chain Management in Practice: From the Perspective of Industry.”

Drawing on his extensive experience in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector and his leadership in strategic infrastructure development, Mr. Mould delivered an insightful presentation on “Fuel, Risk and Resilience: Managing Downstream Petroleum Supply Chains Under National Pressure.”

His presentation highlighted the critical role fuel supply plays in national stability, influencing transportation, industry, food distribution, and essential public services. He emphasized that Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector depends on a complex network of imports, storage, logistics, financing, and regulatory systems to maintain reliable fuel availability.

Mr. Mould further explored key industry challenges, including import dependency, infrastructure limitations, logistics risks, price volatility, and geopolitical disruptions such as tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. He underscored the importance of effective supply chain management through strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, risk management, and data-driven decision-making.

The presentation reinforced a key lesson that resonates with MiDA’s commitment to supporting sustainable economic growth and infrastructure development: resilient supply chains are essential for national economic stability today, while strategic planning is needed to support the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy systems in the future.

Richard Addai praised the impact of the DiWAOW initiative under the HAPPY Program, highlighting how the program is creating opportunities for young women in agricultural mechanization. He specifically commended Lawrencia Essien, Jumai Alhassan, Mary Yaboah, and Grace Tachie, who transitioned from trainees and interns to permanent staff of the African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC).

According to him, the young women showed commitment, discipline, and a strong willingness to learn throughout the training and internship period. He noted that their dedication and ability to apply their training in real work environments earned them the permanent roles at AAC. Richard Addai added that their success demonstrates how programs like DiWAOW can empower young women with the skills and confidence to thrive in agricultural mechanization and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Our Chief Executive, Alexander Mould, had the honour of serving as Chairman for this year’s Aboakyer Festival in Winneba, in the distinguished presence of Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, and revered Nananom.

In his address, he reflected on Aboakyer as far more than a celebration, describing it as a tradition shaped by history, sacrifice, and identity. He recounted the origins of the festival, where the Effutu people, after their migration, were required to offer human sacrifice, and how through courage and resolve, they redefined that demand by substituting it with the symbolic capture of a bushbuck caught with bare hands as a mark of bravery and strength.

He emphasized that this act was never just about the deer, but about courage, unity, and belief values that continue to guide the Tuafo and Dentsifo Asafo companies as they uphold this centuries-old practice. For over 300 years, this covenant has endured, serving as a powerful link between the people, their ancestors, and their faith.
He further called on traditional leaders to safeguard this rich heritage, and reminded the youth that in a fast-changing world, true strength lies not in what one possesses, but in the courage to face challenges and remain rooted in one’s identity.

A proud homecoming for the Chairman, and a powerful reminder that no matter how far we go, our roots remain our foundation.
