KONGO-ODUMASI FIRE COMMAND SAVES LIVES AND PROPERTIES IN THREE EMERGENCY RESPONSES
The Konongo-Odumasi Fire Station demonstrated professionalism and swift response on Sunday, 8th June 2026, by attending to three separate emergency incidents within a span of four hours under the command of SubO Sarpong Boateng Francis. The first incident occurred at 2017hrs when a distress call reported a domestic fire at Konongo Ward Six, House Number NTE 23. Fire had involved two of ten bedrooms in a compound house owned by Mr. Ernest Boateng. The crew deployed water to contain and extinguish the fire at 2056hrs. No casualties were recorded, eight bedrooms with their contents were salvaged. The cause is under investigation.
The second incident was a vehicular accident reported at 2257hrs at Konongo Yawkwei opposite GOIL Filling Station on the Accra-Kumasi Highway. The crew arrived eleven minutes after the call and met a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, registration AW 864-20, which had collided with a DAF Cargo Truck, registration AS 3897-12, driven by Mr. Peter Kobiah. The Sprinter’s engine compartment and front were totally damaged and three males sustained injuries. The crew used a combination tool to remove the door and rescued two trapped victims. The injured were handed over to Juansa Ambulance Service, registration GV 71-20, for medical care.
The third incident was reported at 2340hrs at Konongo Akrantebesa near the Mosque. Fire had involved one of nine bedrooms in House Number AB Block 9, owned by Madam Vivian Gyapong. Members of the public had begun firefighting with buckets before the crew arrived. The crew deployed water through a delivery hose and extinguished the fire at 0007hrs on 9th June 2026. The fire burned personal belongings and the metre board in the affected bedroom. No casualties were recorded, eight bedrooms with their contents were salvaged through combined public and crew efforts.
