Today, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education paid an official visit to the GNRF, led by the Honourable Peter Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe, Member of Parliament for Akatsi North.

The Committee received a briefing on the Fund's activities from inauguration in June 2025 to date. They commended the Board and Management for remarkable progress in a short period, a recognition that carries particular weight given that the GNRF is the newest agency under the Ministry of Education.

The Committee raised key national priorities for the Fund to consider: food security and sovereignty amid the proliferation of GMO seeds, and youth unemployment in light of Ghana's growing youth population. These are precisely the kinds of challenges the GNRF was established to address through research, innovation, and evidence-based solutions.

The Board and Management extend their sincere gratitude to the Honourable Committee for the visit, the encouragement, and their commitment to supporting the Fund in overcoming its challenges. Your engagement gives us confidence and renewed purpose.

A message that captures exactly what the Ghana National Research Fund stands for.

Her Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana recently met with the GNRF Governing Board and Management for a briefing on the Fund’s progress and its role in advancing Ghana’s national development agenda.

In her remarks, the Vice President said:
“The success of the National Research Fund will ultimately be measured by the real impact those projects have on the lives of Ghanaians. Research must provide practical solutions to national challenges, stimulate intellectual thought, create jobs, strengthen agriculture and industry, improve public services, and contribute meaningfully to national development.”

We are grateful for the Vice President’s engagement, guidance, and continued confidence in the work of the Fund. Her emphasis on real-world impact, collaboration across institutions, sustainable financing, and evidence-based policymaking reflects the very principles that drive everything we do.
