The programme, facilitated by experts from the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), was formally opened by the ๐ ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐๐
๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ, ๐๐ผ๐ป. ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐น ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ถ, who emphasized the importance of continuous capacity building in strengthening effective and responsive local governance.
The training provided an engaging platform for knowledge sharing, practical discussions, and clarification of key aspects of the Assembly Membersโ responsibilities. Participants expressed enthusiasm throughout the sessions, particularly as the facilitators unpacked several areas of local governance and responsibilities that were previously less understood. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged questions, reflection, and deeper appreciation of the important role Assembly Members play as representatives of their communities and partners in local development.
The initiative underscores the Assemblyโs commitment to building the capacity of its elected representatives, strengthening accountability, and improving community-level leadership and service delivery. With better informed Assembly Members, the Assembly is positioned to foster stronger engagement with communities and contribute more effectively to the development of Akuapim South.
