Twilight Cinema update - Monday 15th August

We have taken the decision to cancel both screenings today (Frozen & Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again) due to adverse weather conditions.

Everyone who has booked a ticket will be contacted this afternoon and offered a full refund.

We are sorry to have to cancel, however the safety of ticket holders and their enjoyment watching the film on top lawn of Castle Cornet is very important to us.

A decision about films screening tomorrow will be taken in the morning.

Twilight Cinema will return to the top lawn at Castle Cornet in August and will feature a series of films which will be shown outdoors on the big screen.

“Twilight cinema was so popular last year that we wanted to bring it back to give people the chance to experience watching a film outside against the magical backdrop of Castle Cornet” Deputy Matt Fallaize, President, Committee for Education, Sport & Culture said.

The films will be shown each night on the big outdoor screen from Saturday 22nd August to Monday 31st August and will feature in the following order:

Saturday 22nd - Emma (2020)
Sunday 23rd - Colette
Monday 24th - 1917
Tuesday 25th - Spitfire
Wednesday 26th - Sea Donkey
Thursday 27th - Sea Donkey
Friday 28th - Les Misérables (2012)
Saturday 29th- Les Misérables (2012)
Sunday 30th Downton Abbey
Monday 31st - Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

Nikki Symons, Head of Marketing & Events said “ We have chosen a wide variety of cultural films, including a local film ‘Sea Donkey’ which follows the extraordinary journey of Guernsey man, Adrian Sarchet attempting to swim from Northern Ireland to Scotland, in probably the most brutal open water swimming challenge in the world. We are also screening the 2012 movie adaptation of Victor Hugo’s Classic, Les Misérables which Hugo wrote during his exile in Guernsey”

Castle Gates will open at 6pm with all films starting at 7pm. Film goers are invited to bring a picnic to share with family and friends before the film starts.

Guernsey Museums has made the difficult decision to delay the seasonal opening of Castle Cornet, Fort Grey and the German Naval Signals HQ until further notice.

We had originally planned to open on Friday, but this is now delayed due to staff shortages as a result of the developing situation in regard to COVID-19. We will continue to monitor and review this situation and hope to be able to welcome visitors to these sites again soon.

Guernsey Museum at Candie continues to open as usual.
