🚔 Neighbourhood Policing Week 🚔
As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, we’d like to highlight some of the challenges faced across our rural areas.
With the increase in visitors enjoying the area, particularly around Ystradfellte and Pontneathvaughan, we continue to see additional demands on local resources. Issues such as irresponsible parking, littering, and increased traffic can impact local communities, emergency access routes, and the natural environment.
We are continuing to work closely with the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, local Community Councils, and colleagues from South Wales Police to address these concerns and help keep our rural communities safe and enjoyable for everyone.
If you are visiting the area please consider the blow advice -
🌊 Staying Safe Around Cold Water
Even on warm days, rivers, reservoirs, lakes, and waterfalls can be dangerously cold. Cold water shock can affect anyone, regardless of swimming ability. If entering open water:
• Never jump in unexpectedly.
• Enter slowly to allow your body to adjust.
• Avoid swimming alone.
• Keep children under close supervision.
• In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the appropriate emergency service.
🌿 Staying Safe in Rural Areas
• Park responsibly and avoid blocking gateways, tracks, or emergency access routes.
• Take all litter home with you.
• Stick to designated paths and respect local wildlife and livestock.
• Check weather conditions before setting out and carry appropriate clothing, food, and water.
• Let someone know your planned route if heading into remote areas.
Thank you to our communities and visitors who help protect and respect our rural environment. By working together, we can ensure these areas remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
