What an evening at the York Learning Dressmaking Showcase!

This evening we are at Clifton Library and the room is full of incredible handmade garments, talented people and so much creativity!

Chris from the Cone Exchange has just shared a great talk - From Trash to Treasure - about sustainability, community and what brought the Cone Exchange to life.

Our learners have been recognised tonight with some very special awards, celebrating everything from fearless beginners to unrecognisable transformations.

We're also raising funds this evening for Carecent York , a York charity providing food, clothing and fellowship for all homeless, unemployed or otherwise socially excluded members of our community.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're thinking about what it means to look after ourselves and how learning something new can be part of that. Whether it's a creative class, a practical skill, or just getting out of the house, we're here for all of it.

New to motherhood and feeling quite isolated, our Early Start learner embarked on a new journey to support her child to grow and develop.

"I heard about York Learning’s Early Start, but was a bit nervous about signing up to a weekly course while I was still getting used to looking after a baby. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to be organised enough to get there on time, and was worried that I’d be overwhelmed by information. I needn’t have worried, the course has been the best thing I’ve done!"
