Social tariffs can provide a safety net for customers who might be struggling to afford their broadband or phone services and can potentially get discounts and save money on their bills.

For those with an active housing application, you have until midnight on Tuesday 8 September to show an interest in any homes.

This week there are 6 homes:
2x 1 bed homes
1x 2 bed home
3x 3 bed homes

Restrictions may apply to some properties.

Please note that customers can only see properties they are eligible to bid on.

Register for the Open Housing portal at www.york.gov.uk/OpenHousing

Our portal brings together housing services, and registering will allow you to:
• apply for housing
• check your rent account
• make a payment
• send a message
• email your Housing Management Officer
• view your repairs
• report anti-social behaviour

You can set up or log in to your Open Housing account online, using your tenancy reference, which starts "1900" or "600", or your application reference which starts "800".

If you are having problems with paying your rent, please speak to your Housing Management Officer (HMO) as soon as possible. They'll check if you can claim Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support if you don't already receive it.

If you are a Council tenant, why not sign up to our customer portal at www.york.gov.uk/OpenHousing

From your portal you can view your rent account, contact your housing officer log an ASB report and much more.

Registering is easy. All you need is access to an email and your rent reference number.

Don't deal with doorstep traders!

If someone knocks on your door unexpectedly, and offers to do work there and then, politely decline and close the door.

If you know you need work doing, research good traders and get a few quotes before deciding who to hire.

If you are expecting a visitor, check their ID first - genuine people won’t mind.

Join our voluntary performance panel and help make a real difference!
By looking at our performance figures and exploring ways to improve our service, you'll play a key role in shaping smart, effective decisions that lead to real improvements.
The performance panel meet every three months at 6.30pm via Microsoft teams.
No special skills are needed - just a keen eye and a willingness to contribute. You do need to be a current City of York Council tenant to take part.
