This week, the three of us attended York’s Annual Lord Mayor Making Ceremony at the Guildhall.
There’s definitely plenty of pomp and tradition involved, but it’s also one of those events that really reflects the history and character of our city. York has centuries of civic history and you can really feel that during the ceremony.
A huge thank you to the outgoing Lord Mayor, Cllr Martin Rowley BEM, and the Lady Mayoress Elizabeth Rowley and Sheriff Paul Doughty, his consort David Smith for everything they’ve done over the past year supporting charities, community groups and events across York. Over the last year, they raised money and awareness for Family Matters York, the Royal British Legion and York Against Cancer, supporting people and families across our city.
And congratulations to the incoming Civic Party as they begin their year representing York, including the new Lord Mayor, Cllr Margaret Wells, Lord Mayor’s Consort Trevor Gant, Sheriff Geoff Cossins and Sheriff’s Consort Stuart Jarman.
This year, the Civic Party will be supporting York Cares and Shared York CIC through their charity fundraising and community work across the city. ❤️
