Were you in New Street, York on the afternoon of 6 June?

We’re appealing for witnesses after a man was arrested following a disturbance in the street.

At around 2.30pm we were called to New Street near the Bottega Milanese restaurant to reports that a man was acting aggressively and shouting abusive comments to members of the public. We also received a report of a theft from a nearby shop.

We are appealing to anyone who was in the area and have not already spoken to the police to come forward, including a group of men walking past who were subject to racist verbal abuse.

A man aged in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of theft and a public order offence. He has been released on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

Can you help us identify the man in this image?

We would like to speak to him following the theft of over £2,000 worth of music equipment.

It happened on 6 June at Gear4Music in York when a music production system worth around £1,400 and a synthesizer worth £769 were stolen from the store.

We believe the man in image will have important information that could assist our investigation.

We also urging members of the public to contact us if they have been offered an Akai MPC Live III Standalone Music Production System or a Sequential Fourm 4-Voice Analog Synthesizer for sale under suspicious circumstances.

We’re appealing for information and dashcam footage following a serious assault on Union Terrace in York.

It happened at around 1pm on the afternoon of Saturday 30 May near the Changing Lives Hostel on Union Terrace, when a man was assaulted by another man.

We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and to any passing motorists who may have caught the incident on dashcam video to get in touch.

We would like to speak to him following a serious assault at Yates Wine Bar, Church Lane, York.

It happened on 14.5.2026 when a member of the security team at Yates was assaulted.

We believe the person in the image will have information that could help our investigation.

Acomb campervan blaze: Man arrested on suspicion of arson

Following enquiries into the campervan fire on Beaconsfield Street in the Acomb area of York, we have arrested a 58-year-old local man on suspicion of arson.

Firefighters were alerted to the scene at 10.45pm on Thursday (4 June 2026).

The white campervan was extensively damaged by the fire, and two cars parked nearby were partially melted.

Nearby homes had damaged windows, and a business premise sustained damage due to the blaze.

Several households had to be evacuated as a safety precaution, but they were allowed back in their homes by 11.40pm.

The suspect remains in custody for questioning while the investigation continues.

It is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage are being urged to come forward.

Appeal following collision involving a cyclist and van in York 🚔

Emergency services have been dealing with a serious collision involving a cyclist and a van on Station Road in York.

It happened near The Milner hotel at around 8.30am today (Friday 5 June 2026).

The rider, a local man aged in his 70s, has been taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment for serious injuries.

The driver of the grey VW Crafter panel van, a man aged in his 60s from Leeds, is assisting officers with the investigation.

The collision scene will be closed to traffic until further notice while enquiries continue. 🚨

Witnesses - and anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dashcam footage - are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or email [email protected] - quoting reference number 12260103485.
