We are always excited to support . Why not try out this event Dunnington Library which is organised by The Friends of Dunnington Library. They are a gorgeously enthusiastic team who love libraries and reading and want to see both things thrive! You will be welcomed with open arms. What a lovey way to spend an evening.

The Friends of Dunnington Library have organised a very exciting event coming up next week from author, historian and broadcaster Eleanor Barraclough!

Join Eleanor as she discusses her book Ember of the Hands: Hidden Histories of the Viking Age. An immersive exploration of Viking culture, shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize and longlisted for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction. ⚔️📜

There will be 2 signed copies of Eleanor's book plus 2 Jorvik Viking Centre family tickets (worth £59 each!) raffled on the evening.

We have an Ancestry.com drop in if you'd like to learn how to use the site for your family history, an NHS app session so you can book appointments and manage your health digitally and a Tech Cafe all afternoon for anything tech related like smartphones, staying safe online and our online library services! Tang Hall Explore is very excited to be a part of Get Online Week 2026! Get Online Week is a digital inclusion campaign aiming to help people build digital skills, confidence and access to essential online services. On Wednesday 22nd October we have drop ins for help with Ancestry.com, using the NHS app and a Tech Cafe session for anything tech related, from using your phone, staying safe online or making the most of our website and app. We're here to help! You asked, we listened!✨

We've had a good old switch around at the library! For all you keen crime and thriller readers, we've moved our crime section next to general non-fiction to be more accessible. We've even included true crime at the end too for an extra thrill! 🕵️‍♀️

And we know there are are also many local history lovers amongst you - this is now pride of place at the front of the library, joined by biographies, books on prescription and maps. 🌍

We take on board all of your comments and hope this change makes library life easier for all. Let us know your thoughts!
