Could you be a Director on our Board?

We are seeking a Volunteer Director with experience in finance, commercial growth and cost management, who can help strengthen Explore’s financial resilience and chair our Finance subcommittee. You do not need to be a qualified accountant (though it may be helpful), but you will to be confident about financial strategy and organisational economics.

Opening hours for Bank Holiday Monday 25 May

☕Rowntree Park cafe open as normal.
📚Libraries, archives and other cafes closed.
⚽Community Stadium library open for self-service borrow and return.
Tuesday 26 May: All sites open as normal.

What is your favourite book about nature? We have plenty to choose from here, both for adults and children.

Happy 100th birthday Sir David Attenborough, a century well spent speaking up for planet earth and bringing the beauty of nature to us all. We have so many books across our libraries that David has either written himself or are books of the many tv shows he has brought to us. Search our catalogue and celebrate the man himself with a look into his life or into one of the many aspects of our beautiful planet.
