We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in Flowers for Sophie, held at The Fulford Arms in York, which raised an amazing £574.93 for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

A huge thank you to Flowers in the Boneyard for organising such a brilliant night, and to all of the incredible bands who took part: , , , , and , as well as their wonderful compère.

Events like this mean so much to us. Every gig, fundraiser and act of support helps us continue Sophie's legacy and our work to challenge prejudice, hatred and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, donated and helped make the night such a success.

Good evening to all our wonderful bats and flowers.

As you may have seen or read, as of tomorrow night the wonderful Social Youth Cult will unfortunately have disbanded, meaning that they will not be able to play for you at NO BAT LEFT BEHIND FESTIVAL 2027.

All of us at Flowers in the Boneyard wish them the very best for the future, and are working hard actively seeking a replacement band to fill their rather massive shoes in May.

We'll keep you posted every step of the way.

With Gratitude...

Now that the dust has fully settled we have many people to thank for making our event in August a success.

So without further ado.

It is with our heartfelt thanks to Westenra, Social Youth Cult, machiner, Courtesan , Tiny Forehead, DOBERWOMAN, A short Dark Stranger, Fulford Arms, Tim Downie Music, Join The Clot! BLEED - The Gothic Clubnight for lending their time and talents and helping us make the event special.

To Aural Aggravation for the kind words and wonderful review of our humble fringe event.

To all of those wonderful people who allowed us to have event flyers everywhere and for those in our wonderful community who attended from all corners of the UK.
With your kindness and generosity, you helped us make a difference to Stamp Out Prejudice Intolerance and Hatred Everywhere!

All profits from FLOWERS FOR SOPHIE have been donated to Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

So what's next?

More of the same? Perhaps. Love and appreciation for what makes us all unique? Check! Leaving no bat behind? Absolutely!

Today we take time to remember Dolly Parton and Tim Curry.

It is a time to reflect on their lives, their work and their unwavering resolve in acceptance, regardless of background.

Dolly taught us that when faced with adversity, to dig out heels in even more to truly flourish., To show compassion to our fellow human beings. To be ourselves, and never be too shy to show others what your hidden talents are.

Tim taught us in some of his roles that it is inevitable to be the villain in someone's narrative, but one that is loved by others, and that is perfectly okay. He also taught that being hurt by daring to dream hurts a lot less than a lifetime of regret of a chance not taken.

From darker cover versions of Jolene to doing the Time Warp at Club nights and events, tributes to their work have been widespread throughout the world.

They will be sorely missed. REST IN POWER.

But let the music play on... Let's show our tributes to two of the finest human beings the goth and alternative community have adopted as some of our own! 🖤

19 years ago today...

We do what we do for her.

It is up to us all to make sure that history doesn't repeat itself.

It is up to us all to stand up, stand proud, and stamp out prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere.

Rest in power.

Some words that have always been at the heart of what we do. Acceptance of everyone, regardless of background.
We stand with the weirdos, the outcasts, the ones left behind. We stand on the fringes of the subculture and welcome those new to the scene and those who don't know anyone.
We don't believe in judgment, we don't believe in gatekeeping. never have done.
We believe in event safety and looking out for each other. Why? Because there are not many of us, and sadly the modern tropes ring true.

A message from us to those who feel judged, ostracized, left behind. Please don't be discouraged. To thine own self be true, being Goth/Alternative is albeit a varied but all the more a personal choice. Don't let others discourage you from expressing yourself. It is a subculture built out of not fitting in, being unique, and most of all...out of love.
