We had a wonderful afternoon of outreach at the St Nicks Autumn Festival 🍂🍁🍄‍🟫🍄 Thank you so much for having us 💚

It was a lovely nature-crafting time having some great chats with lots of parents about parenting during a climate crisis and explaining how local parent groups like ourselves, Parents For Future North Yorks Mothers Rebellion for climate Justice Extinction Rebellion Families and other non parent-specific groups like Friends of the Earth york, Axe Drax and Extinction Rebellion York can provide a positive outlet for taking climate action and finding like minded people to share your concerns with.

Hope is rooted in action ✊

💚 PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION FAR AND WIDE! Let’s hold them to account for their crimes

💚 Go plant based 🌱 or majority plant based, for your childrens futures, for the planet, for biodiversity and for the animals.

💚 Refuse to buy/eat fast food/cheap meat from industrial animal agriculture. >70% of soy grown in areas formally known as the Amazon rainforest is shipped abroad to be used as animal feed in industrial animal agriculture (eg soy feed for industrial chicken units).

This was posted yesterday in a local York Facebook group.

City of York Council have poisoned this urban wildlife garden with weedkiller - despite the garden being agreed with the council that it would be exempt from any spraying.

It was also cleared with the emergency services and supported by the Groves Association and Edible York who helped to set it up.

We are facing simultaneous biodiversity and climate crises. Scientists believe that the 6th mass extinction event is already underway. Without immediate and radical action we stand to loose millions of species over the coming decades. The recent State of Nature Report (Nov ‘23) describes the UK as one of the most nature depleted countries in the world.

When nature goes, we go with it.

Urban wildlife spaces like this are so so important for supporting biodiversity.

York council even have their own scheme to encourage and improve biodiversity within the city so this is complete madness!
