Following the weight restriction being applied to bishopthorpe bridge, we are aware of the additional lorries coming through the village. We are seeking more information about the likely timescales and chasing York Council. The concerns are also being raised with highways, councillors and other third parties. The parish council also recently met with Celkom to discuss the matter directly. Celkom will be splitting their routes between Copmanthorpe and Appleton Roebuck, so to hopefully reduce the amount coming through the village. They have also agreed that their lorries will not drive through Appleton roebuck between 8.30-9.00am and 3-3.30, being peak drop off and pick up times for the school and preschool. The time restrictions were agreed to commence this week and until further notice. We will be keeping direct communications open with Celkom. This will be noted within the December parish meeting minutes, which will be available on the website within the next few weeks as usual.

We are aware of the failed pumping station at watson garth and the overflow onto the footpaths and stream. The Parish Council is actively reporting this to Yorkshire Water and environmental agencies. We would however encourage individual complaints as well. The update is that the generator failed in the night and that someone should be on site within 2 hours.

As we start to approach summer, the Parish Council have asked Moorland Garden Services to repair our damaged green areas, so they can be used and enjoyed by all residents. We kindly ask that the grass areas are not used for parking, as this has caused damage in some areas and won't allow the new grass seed opportunity to grow. Thank you.

Access improvement: We’re pleased to announce that working with NYCC the public footpath accessibility has been improved crossing the bridge by the pump station at the bottom of Watson Garth (where people walk the woods to Holme Green) by removing the pole and patching parts of the footpath. The intention is this improves ease of use for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please note this is a public footpath and not a bridleway, therefore NO cycling or horse riding permitted (a sign is due to be added shortly by NYCC). Thank you.
