Today marks the final day for South Somerset District Council with Somerset Council being created tomorrow. Last night, we held the very final meeting of SSDC with our elected members expressing their thanks to staff and Members past and present for all their efforts in doing their very best for South Somerset's communities. PS The social media account will be merged with that of the other five Somerset councils shortly so you can still receive news and updates relating to the area and across the county.

Happening now Westlands Yeovil

Tourism Showcase to kickstart an exciting new season for Somerset.

From 10am until 12 noon today we're bringing together many of the county’s fantastic attractions to provide an opportunity for those in the tourism industry to connect with other Somerset tourism and hospitality colleagues, and to collect and share promotional material for the new season ahead.

All businesses with an interest in attracting visitors, including pubs, cafes, restaurants, attractions, and accommodations providers are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.

Our 2022 Gender Pay Gap has just been published and a huge amount of progress has been made in reducing the gender pay

Yesterday, an oak tree was planted in Penn Hill Park, Yeovil, to commemorate the hard work and efforts of the thousands of staff and Members who have served South Somerset District Council (and formerly Yeovil District Council) from 1974 to 2023 as we look forward to the creation of Somerset Council on April 1. Thank you all!

🌸 At yesterday's Spring Seminar in Glastonbury, we were pleased to have been awarded two five-star 'Pride in Parks' awards for Yeovil Recreation Centre and YEOVIL COUNTRY PARK!

🏵 A huge congratulations to the South Somerset District Council teams who work tirelessly around the clock to maintain these wonderful green spaces for our residents and visitors.
