It was good to see Adam Dance MP speak up against fraud and online scams during a recent Westminster Hall debate.

Adam highlighted the case of a constituent with disabilities who lost £70,000 to a romance scam, raising concerns about the lack of checks carried out before the money was transferred.

Fraud and scams can have a devastating impact on victims and their families, causing significant financial losses and lasting emotional distress.

As more scams originate overseas and become increasingly sophisticated, it is vital that governments, financial institutions and technology companies work together to prevent fraud and protect vulnerable people from exploitation.

Adam was right to call for this issue to be considered as part of international efforts to tackle fraud and scam networks.

We would like to thank Adam for continuing to stand up for constituents affected by fraud and for ensuring that their experiences are heard in Parliament.

It was encouraging to see that Adam Dance MP has submitted a written Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Education, asking what steps are being taken to reduce inequalities in access to educational psychologists across the country.

Access to educational psychology services can play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people receive the support they need to thrive in education.

Educational psychologists are particularly important in identifying and supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping to ensure that young people can access the right support at the right time.

Yet access to educational psychologists remains unequal across the country, leaving some children without the assessments and interventions they need to succeed both in school and beyond.

It is vital that we address these disparities to improve outcomes for young people and help schools and families secure appropriate support before long-term challenges arise.

We would like to thank Adam for raising this important issue in Parliament and for continuing to champion better support for children and families across Yeovil and South Somerset.

It was great to see that Adam Dance MP has submitted a written Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, asking what steps are being taken to help local businesses offer apprenticeship opportunities.

This question comes at a particularly important time.

Alan Milburn’s recent report on the rise in the number of people aged 16-24 not in education or meaningful employment is a wake-up call for our country, highlighting the need to support and invest in our young people.

Apprenticeships are a key part of the solution, helping young people gain valuable skills while supporting the long-term growth of our local economy.

However, many small and medium sized businesses continue to face financial and administrative challenges when it comes to recruiting and training apprentices.

This is counterproductive: harming both our businesses and our young people at a time when we should be doing everything we can to help them get into work and training.

We would like to thank Adam for raising this important issue in Parliament and for continuing to champion local businesses and skills development in Yeovil and South Somerset.

This week, it was fantastic to hear that Somerset Council will receive £50m in new funding from the government for flood defences and resilience measures.

This landmark moment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Lib Dem council and MPs across Somerset.

Sarah D**e MP was especially instrumental, securing a visit from the Flood Minister to Somerset earlier this year so that she could witness for herself the devastation caused by flooding across our great county.

This announcement means homes, businesses, farmland and critical infrastructure will be better protected from future flooding. Communities that have suffered too much for too long will finally see the investment they deserve.

Given the impact of climate change and the increasingly adverse weather patterns it is creating, this investment could not have come at a more critical moment for our county.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Sarah and everyone else involved in lobbying the government to take action, ensuring that Somerset will be better flood-prepared in the future.

It was great to host another phone canvassing session in Yeovil yesterday evening.

This session provided another valuable opportunity to speak to residents and learn more about what is going on in our local community.

As always, we’d like to say a big thank you to our volunteers who came along: MJ, 17, and Georgia, 17.

It’s so great to meet young people who are engaged and passionate about local politics, and we really appreciate all your energy and enthusiasm.

We host volunteer sessions in the office every Tuesday from 4-6, which are open to people from all walks of life.

If you would like to get involved or find out more, please get in touch via email at [email protected].

We hope to see some of you there soon.

It was great to see that Adam Dance MP has signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament recognising the vital contribution of emergency medicine professionals across the UK.

The EDM, put forward by fellow Lib Dem MP Wera Hobhouse, pays tribute to the dedicated staff working in our A&E departments, recognising the urgent and often life-saving care they provide to patients every day.

It is essential that healthcare professionals feel supported and protected. Those working in emergency medicine perform an invaluable public service, often under immense pressure.

At the Yeovil and South Somerset Lib Dems, we have been very concerned by recent reports of increasing levels of violence and abuse directed towards staff working in emergency departments.

This is completely unacceptable.

Emergency healthcare professionals deserve our gratitude. The least we can do as a nation is to provide them with safe working conditions that allow them to continue delivering the highest standards of patient care.

We'd like to thank Adam for supporting this important EDM and for standing up for emergency medicine professionals in Yeovil, South Somerset and across the UK.

Recently, It was great to see Adam Dance MP highlighting the vital work pharmacists do to support patients across our communities.

Adam’s spoken contribution in Parliament recognised that pharmacies in rural areas are being asked to do more and more, often with little extra support, while continuing to provide an essential service to local residents.

It is so important that pharmacists and pharmacy teams feel supported. They play a crucial role in our health-care system, helping people access advice and care close to home. They must have the resources and recognition they deserve.

We’d like to thank Adam for standing up for community pharmacies in Yeovil and South Somerset and highlighting the need for greater investment in our pharmacy workforce.

It was great to see that Adam Dance MP has submitted an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament, celebrating Cookson’s Court Nursing Home in Yeovil.

Adam’s EDM noted how Cookson’s Court has recently been rated outstanding after a recent Care Quality Commission inspection and thanked staff for their tireless work.

It is essential that health-care professionals feel supported. They do such vital work, looking after elderly and vulnerable residents, devoting their time to the care of others. We should do everything we can to provide them with the recognition they deserve.

We’d like to thank Adam for standing up for our health-care professionals, here in Yeovil, South Somerset, and across the UK.

Supporting skilled jobs and securing investment in Yeovil is vital for our local economy and our community.

We were therefore pleased to see the announcement of a major new defence investment involving Honeywell, which will support highly skilled jobs in Yeovil and further strengthen our town’s world-leading aerospace and defence sector.

Adam Dance MP has been instrumental in demonstrating that Yeovil is open for business, working tirelessly to secure the Leonardo contract supporting around 3,000 jobs.

This latest announcement reinforces Yeovil’s position as one of the UK’s most important hubs for aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing.

The continued confidence in Yeovil’s businesses and workforce is not only good news for local employers, but also for local families, apprentices and future generations who will benefit from new opportunities and training.

A big thank you to everyone involved in this, and everyone who is working hard to ensure Yeovil gets the investment it deserves.

It was great to see that a new dental practice opened its doors to local patients in Crewkerne this week.

This is another positive step for improving access to dental care in our area, following the open of a new NHS dentist in Chard this December.

Yet it is is clear we also need proper long term investment in NHS dentistry, more dentists, and reforms that make it easier for people to get the treatment they need when they need it.

Too many families are being left without the care they need, and the dental crisis in this country cannot be ignored.

It is therefore great to see Adam Dance MP pushing for better access to dental services across our communities and working to ensure nobody is left behind when it comes to their health.

While more still needs to be done, Adam is helping to move things in the right direction, and we are thankful that he is standing up for residents across Yeovil and South Somerset.
