2407 Yateley & Eversley Air Cadets

2407 Yateley & Eversley Air Cadets To be an Air Cadet you must be 13 years old, or 12 years old if you're already in year 8 in school. The latest you can join is before your 17th birthday.

Most cadets leave when they're 20 years old and some stay involved as an adult volunteer. Welcome to 2407 (Yateley & Eversley) Squadron
Our aims are to:

Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people

Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life

Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and

good citizenship

And there’s one more important thing - it’s a lot of fun! Are you up for fun, adventure, incredible experiences and making new friends? Are you looking for something to give you the edge in life? Then welcome to the RAF Air Cadets, we are a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years. We’re sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. The RAF Air Cadets are divided into six regions, 36 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK.

READY FOR A CHALLENGE? As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. Want real flight experience? No problem. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about. GET A HEAD START

We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a Service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition. Many cadets go on to great success in the RAF (and the other Services). Around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew (including pilots, navigators and engineers) in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the Service longer than their colleagues. Likewise, if you chose a civilian career our research proves you can go on the great things…employers just love the skills and experience that air cadets offer. Let's face it - where else would you be given the opportunity to fly solo in a glider or powered aircraft when you're 17? Whatever you do with your life, at the end of your time as a cadet you'll be self-motivated, confident and ready for anything.

Huge congrats Sir.

Huge congrats Sir.

An incredible moment of celebration for the RAF Air Cadets community! 🎖️

A massive congratulations to Squadron Leader Graeme Hughes, who has been officially recognised in the King's Birthday Honours list with being awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This prestigious honour is a testament to his outstanding commitment, tireless hard work, and the profound impact he has made on the lives of our young people and fellow volunteers.

Adult volunteers like Graeme are the absolute heartbeat of our organisation, selflessly giving up their time to give cadets the confidence and skills to aim high. 🚀

Join us in celebrating this fantastic, well-deserved achievement! 👏

🏅 Huge congratulations to Flight Sergeant Joyce on achieving his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award — and what a way to celebrate it, with an invitation to the Palace to receive it!

This is an incredible milestone and a testament to the dedication, resilience, and hard work that the Gold Award demands. We couldn't be prouder. 👏

FS Joyce summed it up perfectly:
"I thoroughly enjoyed attending this fantastic event and celebrating such a significant achievement. The atmosphere throughout the day was extremely positive, and it was an amazing feeling to celebrate the completion of the Gold Award at such a special venue. The experience serves as a reminder that achievements like this do not happen overnight, and I encourage anyone working towards the award to keep going, never give up, and most importantly enjoy every minute."

If you're currently working towards your DofE — Bronze, Silver, or Gold — let this be your motivation. Keep going. 🌟

🚨 Important Update: RIAT 2026 Cancelled 🚨

We are incredibly sad to share the news that this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) has been cancelled.

Due to ongoing international operations and uncertainty over airfield access at RAF Fairford, the organisers have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to call off the 2026 event.

We know how much RIAT means to the RAF Air Cadets, from the hundreds of our amazing cadets and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes each year, to everyone looking forward to visiting.
If you or your squadron had already purchased tickets, look out for an email from the organisers by the end of May detailing your options (including full refunds or rolling tickets over).

Thank you to all our cadets and CFAVs for your dedication to the event. We are already looking forward to supporting RIAT when it comes back bigger and stronger in 2027! ✈️💪

👏 Thank You, Yateley Men’s Shed! 👏

On Thursday 23rd we unveiled our new stand for our Litening pod ⚡

We would like to thank the amazing Yateley Men’s Shed for building the stand, funded by our fantastic 2407 Squadron Committee.

Previously displayed on the floor, the pod can now be properly showcased on its new oak stand, complete with a smart data plaque — a huge improvement and a real focal point for the squadron.

Members of Yateley Men’s Shed and 2407 committee who kindly approve the project also joined us on the night to present the stand and talk our cadets through how it was designed and built — a brilliant insight and a great experience for all.

We would also like to thank UltraIC for generously donating the Litening pod to the squadron — making this display possible 👏

Want to learn more about what the Litening pod does? Take a look here:

It looks fantastic, and we hope you agree!

We once again would like to thank Yateley Men’s Shed for building this amazing new stand 👏
