🔧 Planned maintenance – recycling and waste online forms.

On Thursday 18 June, some of our online forms will be unavailable from 10am until the end of the day. This will affect the ability to report missed collections.

❓ Why is this happening?

The system is being updated to add the option to order white recycling bags and hygiene and nappy waste bags.

🗑 What if I need to report a missed collection in that time?

You have until midday on the second working day after your scheduled collection. If your collection is missed on Tuesday, please report it by 10am on Thursday.

✅ Sort It recycling centres remain open and are operating as normal – bookings are still available online. Visit https://orlo.uk/Recycling_Centres_2Vin4

🔔 Soft plastics bags update.

We are sorry to anyone who has experienced delays receiving their soft plastics recycling bags or had trouble getting through to us.

We are currently seeing exceptionally high demand for bags, which has unfortunately led to delays in deliveries.

👉 Our team is actively working through the backlog and putting measures in place to improve response times.

Thank you to everyone supporting the scheme and doing their bit to recycle – we really do appreciate it.

The project to restore and enhance Kingswood Park is taking shape over the summer as the next stage of the regeneration project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund gets underway.

Our recent fun in the park event was the start of a busy period - work to remodel the amphitheatre to create more comfortable seating and a new toilet block close to the new play area will start at the end of June.

The park's transformation will also include new accessible paths through the heart of the park and a new mobile cafe facility.

Our Road Safety Team worked alongside Avon Fire & Rescue Service, Child Car Seat Safety and the local Neighbourhood Policing Team to carry out child car seat safety checks.

The event, on 4 June, took place during , which aims to protect child passengers and supports the UK Government's goal to reduce child road deaths and serious injuries by 70% by 2035.

During the session at Kingswood Fire Station, 65 child car seats were checked and 78% of those seats were fitted incorrectly for their vehicle.

In 2024, 22 children were killed and 537 were seriously injured while travelling as car occupants on UK roads. In the same year, 42% of children under 16, who were killed in collisions, were not wearing a seatbelt or using an appropriate restraint.

Parents and carers were also encouraged to keep children rear facing until at least 4 years old, and preferably for longer where possible. Evidence shows that children are up to 5 times safer when travelling rear-facing compared with forward-facing.

We are sorry that some residents are still experiencing missed collections for their recycling and waste.

We are working closely with our waste contractor to address the issues as quickly as possible. In the meantime, crews are working longer days and weekends to catch up.

We understand this is frustrating and appreciate your patience while we work to get services back on track.

If your collection is missed, please leave your bins, boxes and bags out for the crews.

Thank you for your understanding.

This Volunteers' Week, we want to say thank you to the 300 plus incredible helpers who have brought Pucklechurch Wood to life.

From December to March, and into a very muddy April for mulching, they showed up week after week, come rain or shine.

Together, we’ve achieved something amazing:
• 15 hectares planted
• 18,000 trees in the ground
• wildflower seeds scattered to boost biodiversity

This truly has been a community effort, phase 2 will start up again in November 2026.

Thank you to all volunteers who work so hard to make our community spaces across South Gloucestershire such special places.💚
