Unveiling of the Betty Webb Memorial Bench

Wythall Parish Council was proud to host the memorial bench unveiling in honour of Charlotte “Betty” Webb MBE, Légion d’honneur.

The ceremony brought together family members, residents, councillors, veterans, and invited guests to remember Betty’s remarkable life, wartime service, and many years of dedication to the local community through Wythall Parish Council.

The memorial bench now stands alongside the War Memorial at Gorsey Lotts, Alcester Road, as a lasting tribute to Betty’s life and service.

Wythall Parish Council would like to thank everyone who attended the ceremony and helped make the occasion a fitting tribute to Betty’s life and legacy.

Wythall Parish Council is pleased to share details of tomorrow’s memorial bench unveiling in honour of Charlotte “Betty” Webb MBE, Légion d’honneur.

The ceremony will be held to celebrate Betty’s remarkable life and her outstanding contribution to both national service and the local community. Betty served during the Second World War in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), including work at Bletchley Park and later at the Pentagon. In later life, she gave many decades of dedicated service to Wythall Parish Council and the wider community.

We warmly invite residents and all those who knew Betty to join us in remembering her life and legacy.

Full details, including the Order of Service, can be found on our website here:

We would like to thank Betty’s family for their generous contribution towards the memorial bench, and Swiftwell Environmental Ltd for kindly donating the installation.

We look forward to welcoming those attending tomorrow as we come together in remembrance and gratitude.
