🌳 Dementia Prevention Information Sessions in Wymondham

Did you know that almost half of dementia cases could potentially be prevented or delayed?

Kett’s Oak Primary Care Network is bringing the Community Engagement Van to Wymondham (and beyond) this September, offering free dementia prevention information, advice and support.

The sessions are open to everyone, and you do not need to be registered with one of the participating GP practices. Come along to learn more about the factors linked to dementia risk and the practical steps that can help reduce your risk. One-to-one assessment, planning and support will also be available.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (0452-9170-3047-5393) affecting Middleton Street from its junction with Vicar Street for 100 metres southwards (the “Road”) in the Town of Wymondham to facilitate link box replacement works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 7th to 11th September 2026, but may continue to be closed/ restricted until the 23rd October 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Middleton Street, Church Street, Vicar Street.
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: UK Power Networks.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 23rd October 2026 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: ÂŁ1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Wymondham Town Mayor, Cllr Lucy Nixon , was delighted to attend Dereham Town Council’s civic event on Sunday 30 August.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to meet with fellow civic leaders from across the area, including Dereham Town Mayor Zoe Flint and Deputy Mayor of Watton Tomos Hutchings, and to share experiences and ideas between our Norfolk towns.

Cllr Nixon said:

“What I enjoy most about these events is the opportunity to share ideas and information and find out what challenges we all face in our Norfolk towns and how we might overcome them.”

🎨 New Mural Coming to Wymondham Market Place
We would like to let residents and visitors know that, following planning approval (2026/1074), work has now started on a new feature as part of the Wymondham Public Realm scheme.
A mural is being created under the Fire Arch in the centre of town, with professional artist Julia Allum working on site over the next few weeks to bring the design to life.
For safety, temporary fencing will be in place around the work area and access to some of the bike racks immediately adjacent to the Fire Arch will be restricted while the mural is being painted. Alternative covered bike racks are available on the other side of the arch, as well as additional cycle parking in and around the town.
Access to and from Market Street car park and the public toilets will remain available throughout the works.
We hope residents and visitors will enjoy watching the mural take shape over the coming weeks and look forward to seeing the finished design.

📢 Public Noticeboard – Market Place
The public noticeboard located under the Fire Arch has temporarily been removed by the Public Realm Project team. This is to allow the existing noticeboards to be consolidated on one side of the arch, creating space for the new mural (planning application 2026/1074) on the other side.
Due to the reduced space available, a new, smaller public noticeboard will be ordered in due course. This will still provide space for the same type of public information and notices.
The Public Realm Project team will endeavour to have the new noticeboard installed as soon as possible.

Wymondham (6505-6229-4666-7213) Notice

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to a burst water main the use by vehicles (of any class) of Wymondham Road from its junction with Bridge Road for 75 metres eastwards (the “Road”) in the Town of Wymondham will be temporarily prohibited/restricted.

Alternative route is via: Wymondham Road, Ashwellthorpe Road, Gravel Pit Hill, The Street, Silfield Road, Silfield Street (Wreningham, Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall, Spooner Row, Wymondham).

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Anglian Water.

The closure/restriction is necessary because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the Road or both.

The closure/restriction is anticipated to take place from 23rd to 29th July 2026 but the Road may continue to be closed/restricted until the 12th August 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works / when the closure/restriction is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 12th August 2026 without further notice.

If necessary, this Notice may be extended for an additional 21 days by further Notice and/or for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by further Order.

Any existing restrictions or prohibitions within Orders made under the RTRA 1984 will become suspended where they conflict with the provisions of this Notice during the operation of this Notice.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/ closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Have your say on the future of a town centre Post Office in Wymondham.

A public petition will be available to sign at Wymondham Friday Market on Friday 17th July, during the morning. Ben Goldsborough MP will also be at the Market Place, where residents can come along to sign the petition and show their support.
