The first Mental Health Voices Collaboration (MHVC) Campaign Report is now available.

Since launching in May, we've been listening to people across our communities about their experiences of mental health support. The report highlights what we've heard so far, including concerns around waiting times, feeling unheard, difficulties accessing support, and the importance of community-based services.

Most importantly, it outlines how you can help shape what happens next.

Whether you're an individual with lived experience, a carer, a community member, or part of an organisation, there are opportunities to become involved as either a Supporter or Collaborator.

🗣️ ARFIDandME Campaign | The Importance of Listening and Learning

One message we hear time and again from people living with ARFID is the feeling that they often have to explain their condition before they can access the understanding and support they need.

For many individuals and families, appointments can involve describing not only ARFID itself, but also the sensory, communication and emotional challenges that can come alongside it. This can be particularly true for autistic and neurodivergent young people, whose experiences may not always fit traditional expectations.

ARFID has only been formally recognised as a distinct eating disorder in recent years, and awareness is still growing. Research suggests it may affect between 0.3% and 5% of children and young people, with higher rates seen among autistic individuals and those with sensory processing differences.

The issue is not whether professionals know everything – no one can. The real opportunity lies in creating services and environments where curiosity, collaboration and ongoing learning are valued.

The strongest support often happens when professionals, families and individuals work together, combining clinical expertise with lived experience.

As part of the ARFIDandME campaign, we are encouraging greater awareness of ARFID, better understanding of autism and sensory needs, and more opportunities for lived experience to help shape future services.

Positive change starts with listening.

What would help improve understanding of ARFID in your community?

⚠️ LAUNCHING A NEW AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ⚠️
TCC is proud to be working alongside Macy and her family to launch a new campaign raising awareness of ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) across North Wales and beyond.
After hearing Macy’s lived experience first-hand, it became clear how urgently more understanding, earlier support, and greater awareness are needed around this serious and often misunderstood eating disorder.
Macy is autistic and non-speaking. Through writing and advocacy, she is sharing the reality of living with severe ARFID in the hope that other young people and families feel less alone — and to encourage positive change in how ARFID is understood and supported.
“Food became fear, eating became survival, and my life became controlled by sensory distress, medical risk, and exhaustion.”
This campaign will explore:
💬 lived experiences
🧠 autism and ARFID
🏥 understanding support pathways
📢 awareness and education
🤝 earlier intervention
❤️ the importance of listening to young people and families
This is only the beginning.

On 16 May 2026, TCC and Advance Brighter Futures attended Wellfest in Wrexham as part of the launch of the Mental Health Voices Collaboration (MHVC) and the closing weekend of Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Organised by Mind Our Future, Wellfest brought the community together for a vibrant day of wellbeing, creativity, conversation, music, food, and connection at Llwyn Isaf.

Despite some very mixed weather, the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, with an impressive turnout and a huge variety of organisations and activities on offer.

There really was something for everyone:
🎵 Live music and performances
💃 Barn dancing and circus skills
🐴 Pony petting
🏃 Exercise and wellbeing activities
🎨 Creative workshops
🍕 Wood fired pizza and Peace Kitchen curry
🤝 Community organisations and support services

Throughout the day, TCC spoke with exhibitors and organisations supporting mental wellbeing across the region, inviting them to share more about their work and the importance of events like Wellfest.
