Testing Pastéis de Nata.

It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

Crispy pastry, warm custard filling and surprisingly addictive. We can now confirm they’re definitely worth the hype.

🇵🇹 Day 3 in Lisbon - Exploring Alfama

If there’s one part of Lisbon that completely captured our imagination, it was Alfama.

Today we spent hours wandering through its maze of narrow cobbled streets, discovering hidden viewpoints, local boutiques, historic churches and some wonderful little cafés and restaurants tucked away from the main tourist areas.

What we loved most was that around every corner there seemed to be something different waiting to be discovered. One minute you’re looking out across the terracotta rooftops towards the River Tagus, the next you’re watching one of Lisbon’s iconic yellow trams squeeze its way through the streets below.

It’s easy to see why so many people fall in love with this city.

We’ve always believed that some of the best travel experiences happen when you slow down, put the map away and simply explore, and Alfama is the perfect place to do exactly that.

Tomorrow we leave Lisbon behind and step onboard Oceania Vista, but this beautiful part of the city will certainly be one of our lasting memories.

Why Lisbon is the perfect cruise city

One thing that’s really struck us during our time here is just how good Lisbon is as a cruise departure city.

We’ve spent the last couple of days exploring the city, enjoying the food, taking in the views and wandering through some of its most famous neighbourhoods, all before stepping onboard our cruise.

Today we even spotted the brand-new Celebrity Xcel in port, and she certainly looked impressive from afar.

It’s a great reminder that a cruise doesn’t have to start at the airport. Arriving a few days early allows you to explore somewhere new, settle into holiday mode and start your trip feeling relaxed rather than rushed.

Tomorrow we board Oceania Vista and can’t wait to share more from onboard.

✨Not every day you get invited onboard a ship that’s just spent 180 days sailing around the world…🛳️

Well done to those who guessed Lisbon!

We’re heading to Lisbon before embarking on Oceania Cruises “Vista” for a very special few days at sea.

Vista is currently completing her incredible 180-day Around the World voyage, and we’ve been invited to join the final sector of the journey as guests of Oceania Cruises.

Trips like these are an important part of what we do. They allow us to experience destinations, hotels, resorts and cruise ships firsthand, meet the people behind the brands, and build relationships that help us look after our clients even better.
