“Fishing, shooting and hunting are the bedrock, the absolute foundation, of the rural community.” Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice MP has pledged his party’s continued support for field sports.

Speaking at a joint BASC and Angling Trust rural reception during the Reform UK conference, Mr Tice highlighted the contribution field sports make to the countryside, conservation and rural communities.

As an all-party organisation, BASC engages with politicians from across the spectrum to ensure the shooting community’s voice is heard. BASC and the Angling Trust will host joint rural receptions at all three remaining major party conferences this autumn.

Have your say on the future of game shooting in England before 1 November.

On the same day BASC secured a second High Court victory against Natural England, with the judge refusing permission to appeal, awarding BASC full costs and ordering the ruling take immediate effect, Defra announced a call for evidence on the impacts of gamebird rearing, release and shooting.

"We know that game shooting has a positive impact on the environment and we have the research to back that up. However, we are up against a relentless campaign by those who want to see shooting shut down," says BASC's Conor O'Gorman.
