πŸ¦”πŸ’š Joining the war to save our local hedgehogs are Penycae Community Council and Wrexham County Borough Council Councillor John Phillips πŸ’šπŸ¦”

In a fantastic cross-community collaboration between Cefn Community Council and Penycae Community Council, Clerk Kathleen Coventry and Community Development Officer Andrew Ruscoe presented Councillor Phillips with two hedgehog house kits for Penycae Community Garden 🌿 and the Pant Fields 🌼

These new hedgehog homes will help support and protect our local wildlife πŸ‘πŸ¦” and are another great example of communities working together for nature 🌍🀝

A huge thank you to everyone involved, and to Cefn Community Council for its ambassadorial role in helping Wrexham Council support our precious hedgehogs πŸ’šβœ¨

PRIDE IN PLACE IMPACT FUNDING
PUBLIC MEETING
9th APRIL 2026, 6PM Pen-Y-Cae Community Centre .
Pen-Y-Cae Community Council has been given the opportunity to apply for Β£44,117 of UK Government funding to be spent within our Community Council boundary by 12 March 2027.
This money must be spent on capital items which meet one of three conditions:
1. Creation, extension, improvement or refurbishment of community spaces – extending the use of community assets
2. Enhancing the physical environment of public spaces – adding to and improving green spaces or existing facilities
3. High street and town centre revitalisation – making such areas more attractive to residents and visitors and encouraging greater usage
We are also required to consult with residents and interested bodies to gather suggestions for how the money might be used, and to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to put ideas into the process.
Although money does not have to be completely spent until next March, we have to submit a project plan to Wrexham Council by the end of April which sets out our intended actions and how much money we intend to spend.
We would therefore like to know what you think, and what you would like us to consider. We will be holding a public meeting on 9th April at Pen-Y-Cae Community Centre at 6pm to discuss suggestions we have received up to that point, and to take other ideas from the meeting. We will obviously not be able to accommodate every idea put forward, either wholly or in part, but we are committed to delivering the best outcome for the Community of Pen-Y-Cae from this one-time funding opportunity.
Please come to the meeting if you can or pass on your ideas through a friend or neighbour who is able to attend if you’re not able to come yourself. We are also keen to know what you think ahead of the meeting, so please get in touch with the Clerk in any of the following ways:
By email at [email protected]
By phone on 07889949241
By mail to PenY-Cae Community Council , Penymyndd Bach , Wern Road , Minera , LL11 3EA
