I’ve written jointly with Cllr Caroline Baxter, the Leader of Worthing Borough Council, to the developers of the West Durrington estate to raise concerns on behalf of residents about the long-awaited infrastructure.

People have been clear that the progress simply isn’t good enough.

We’ve made it clear that the land that was set aside for a school must remain a community asset if it is no longer needed for its original purpose.

We will continue to push for the infrastructure that the community was promised.

We are blessed with a host of parks and green spaces across Adur and Worthing and are lucky to have many active volunteer groups who keep them looking their best all year round - come rain or shine!

This Volunteers’ Week (Monday 1st to Sunday 7th June) we’d like to say a big thank you to all of the ‘friends of’ groups and other volunteers who support our parks team to make our green spaces lovely places to visit.

We currently have volunteering opportunities at Beach House Park in Worthing, where you can help us with gardening and maintenance tasks such as weeding, planting, pruning, watering, edging, raking and painting.

It's a great way to meet like-minded people and connect to nature.

Please visit https://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/volunteer-in-your-local-park/ to register your interest or find out more about joining an existing group at your closest park or green space.

We recently put a call out for key group volunteer roles and had an incredible response from passionate, skilled and experienced members of our local community. Thank you so much to all who took time to come forward and to those who took up the roles. 🙏

We are delighted to now have a project manager and communications and events teams in place, who are busy forming plans to begin community engagement 💚

I’ll be keeping you updated as these plans develop and as always, welcome you to sign up for updates via drbeccycooper.co.uk 🤝
