**New SID deployment**

Our Speed Indicator Device has spent several weeks monitoring speeds along Lorton Road in Cockermouth and has now moved to pastures new on Moor Road, Great Broughton.

Police have received persistent complaints of motorists ignoring the 20mph speed limits into the village, and area which has a narrow road, and is on the approach to the local primary school.

SID will monitor speeds and report back to inform if further enforcement activity is required in this location.

Conveniently, SID has decided to camp right next to a speed sign to provide a helpful reminder of the speed limit!

On Saturday 29th August 2026, 6 police cadets and 2 cadet leaders from Workington police cadet unit attend the Harrington Marina Day Funday 2026. They were joined by 5 Special Constables and between them they engaged with lots of members of the public. The team who are supported by the Citizens in Policing Department shared information about police recruitment into various roles, including volunteering opportunities within Cumbria Police. There was much fun to be had; sitting in the police vehicle and having a go with riot shields. The Special Constables demonstrated an arrest technique on a consenting cadet! 👮🏼 Woody and Jesse the Toy Story Police duo even stopped by looking for opportunities to transfer to the force 🤣
A huge thank you to Harrington Marina funday 26 - coastal communities and everyone involved for inviting us along and supporting these fantastic opportunities for our cadets.

After a number of complaints about this Frankenbike riding around the Hillside estate of Maryport, its reign of terror is at an end.

Unfortunately for this rider, it was not quite road legal....

We are all for DIY, but its probably time to put the welder down and stay off the roads.
