Know someone who'd love to get back into tennis? 🎾

Vulcan Park's membership makes it easy to reconnect with the sport. At Β£25 a year, it's an affordable way to dust off those rackets and enjoy some regular activity.

You can book whenever suits you (up to two weeks ahead), the courts are well-maintained and it's right on your doorstep – literally a five-minute walk from the town centre.

Whether you're playing for fitness, friendship or just the love of the game, it's a brilliant way to stay active!

National Carers Week πŸ’™ A carer is anyone who looks after a friend or family member, unpaid, who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.

Caring can be one of the most rewarding things a person can do - but it can also be incredibly demanding, and it's important that carers know they're not alone.

If you're a carer, or you know someone who is, Carer Support West Cumbria has been supporting carers in our area for over 30 years, providing services to people from the age of 5 upwards.

In 2025, Cumberland Council's Carer Support Service transferred to their partner organisation, People First. The new service, known as Cumberland Carers, is fully up and running and provides support to unpaid adult carers right across Cumberland.

To find out more about the support available, visit: https://wearepeoplefirst.co.uk/cumberland-carers/

To every carer in Workington - thank you. What you do every single day truly matters. πŸ’™

This week is Bike Week 🚴, the UK's biggest annual cycling celebration - and there's no better time to get out and explore on two wheels.

Did you know that Workington is actually the starting point for the famous C2C cycle route? The town also has a brilliant network of traffic-free cycle routes, making it a great base for cyclists of all abilities.

If you're looking for a route to try this week, here's one to consider:

πŸ—ΊοΈ Workington to Cockermouth via National Route 71

Starting at Workington train station, the route takes you along Church Street before joining National Route 71, past Lonsdale Park and over the River Derwent. From here, the route is traffic free all the way to the village of Camerton.

Along the way, you'll pass Siddick Ponds Nature Reserve - keep an eye out for mute swans, little grebes, tufted ducks and redshank! The route then continues through Seaton, before joining Camerton Road towards Great Broughton and on via Harris Brow to Papcastle.

Are you planning to get out on your bike this Bike Week? Let us know in the comments below πŸ’¬

World Environment Day 🌿

Here in Workington, we're lucky to have some wonderful green spaces right on our doorstep - and Harrington Nature Reserve is one of them.

One of two Local Nature Reserves in the Workington area, Harrington Nature Reserve offers a peaceful one-mile stroll through a disused reservoir and the narrow wooded valley of Eller Beck. The whole walk takes around 15 to 30 minutes and is on an even path throughout, making it accessible for all.

It's also home to some fantastic wildlife, so don't forget to bring your camera or phone along - you never know what you might spot! πŸ“Έ

Whether you're a regular visitor or haven't been before, today feels like a perfect excuse to get outside and enjoy a little of what's on your doorstep.

Have you visited Harrington Nature Reserve? Let us know what wildlife you've spotted in the comments below πŸ’¬
