Worcestershire Next Generation is about the county’s businesses, voluntary, community and public sectors working together to build a better future to 2040 and beyond. We know that by working together we can achieve far more than we would do by working separately. We already have many examples of where together we have achieved things that would have been impossible to deliver individually and we w
ant more of these things. And we will only get them by sharing a view of where we are going as a community and then all pulling in roughly the same direction. The challenges we face
Of course, the county is a great place to live and work, but we do already face some challenges. These include falling incomes, rising unemployment, growing pockets of deprivation, an ageing population, alcohol- and obesity-related health concerns and environmental issues such as flooding and climate change. As these issues are further compounded by an increasing demand for services with less money to pay for them, the voluntary and community sector will play an increasingly important role in safeguarding local standards of living. Having established that change is needed and identified what needs to be done, Next Generation is now asking you how you can contribute to this shared vision and help improve the quality of life for the next generation. The project has established 25 commitments which focus on three key priorities:
1. Our prosperity – making our economy stronger with more skilled jobs (working well)
2. Our community – valuing our people, our health and wellbeing (living well)
3. Our environment – valuing our special place and our natural resources (looking good)
