Joining us at our Green Comedy Night is Sachin Kumarendran!
Sachin won the WOW Award for Best Debut Show at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, and stars in the BBC One prime time TV show This is My House.
He was a finalist in the national stand‑up competitions Manford’s New Act of the Year and Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year, as well as being shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award.

New pedestrian refuge on Bilford Road

After many years of campaigning and lobbying for a safer crossing by Perdiswell Park, Green County Council Leader Matt Jenkins is really pleased to see a new pedestrian refuge in place.

The new pedestrian refuge is on Bilford Road where it crosses over the canal. It will allow people to cross safely, with good visibility in both directions, and sufficient space on the refuge for people with bikes, pushchairs and mobility scooters. It should have the additional benefit of slowing traffic at this location.

Matt said: “I used my highways fund to pay for this pedestrian refuge. It is something that I have been calling for for years. Many residents had raised the need for a safer crossing at this location. It was great to see people using it, and will help pedestrians to safely navigate this often busy road.”

After the positive feedback to our solidarity picnic earlier this year, and with the political climate not getting any easier for trans people, we wanted to hold another chance for people to meet, show support, and be together.

The Trans Community Picnic is Sunday 13th September, Gheluvelt Park, Kyndfolk side, and is open to trans people and allies of all ages.
