ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS

You may have seen the installation of some new Bat Boxes at Pershore Cemetery. Thanks to the Wildlife team at Wychavon, we have been able to install some lovely new homes for our furry, flying neighbours.

As well as this, the Cemetery Committee have recently purchased some wildflower seed to be sown in the autumn in the field adjacent to the Cemetery.

This is all part of the Pershore Town Council environmental plan - small actions to support big impact.

They're up!!

Huge thanks to two of our wonderful Councillors, who supported our Grounds Team and our Administration Assistant (who ran a very tight ship!) on the deployment of our Floral Display Scheme.

These baskets are a gorgeous addition to Pershore, bringing colour and vibrancy to the centre of town and you can't help but smile when you see them!

We would love for more business to be involved in purchasing one of these in the upcoming years - wouldn't it be great to have the whole High Street blooming - if you are interested, please email [email protected].

The task of removing the moss and debris from the edges of the culvert is a challenging and rather unpleasant one, but it needs to be done, and John took one for the team in the rain today to get the job done 💪

The Town Council have recently completed some essential tree works in a number of locations across the town to ensure public safety and manage the long-term health of our green spaces.

We understand how important trees are to our environment, wildlife and community, and minimising environmental impact remains a key priority for the Council. Alongside these necessary works, members of the Amenities and Environment Committee are actively exploring opportunities to replace and replant trees in suitable locations around the town to help maintain and enhance our local environment for the future.

At the Annual Meeting of Pershore Town Council last night, Cllr Julie Hemming was voted to remain as Pershores Mayor for a further year. Cllr Sharon Gibbons was elected as the Deputy Mayor for the ensuing year.

The Town Council are pleased to say that community grant awards were made to Pershore Paddlers, Pershore Town Choir, South Worcestershire Flood Rescue, Pershore Wellbeing Hub, LovePershore, Citizens Advice, Pershore Men's Shed, Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society - PODS and Midsummer Brass. We do hope this small incentive can go some way to ensuring these community organisations achieve their goals.

In addition, Cllr Hemming presented Mr Pio Palombo with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to serving (literally!) the people of Pershore in the White Horse Hotel for over 40 years, as well as to Daisy Trevillion, who has served as Youth Mayor over the last year and been involved in many Town Council events.

Here's to another successful and exciting year!
