Following the devastating fire in Pershore, we’re pleased to confirm that everyone is safe. Several homes have been damaged, but most residents have now been able to return home.

Fire crews brought the fire under control at around 8pm yesterday, but remained on site overnight to monitor the situation and ensure there were no further outbreaks. Crews were also checking electricity and gas lines late into the evening.

Everyone who evacuated to the Leisure Centre left by around 11pm, with people now staying in hotels or with family. The road ahead for some families will be a bumpy one and the Town Council offer their thoughts and support to each person affected.

The Wychavon team did a fantastic job supporting everyone, with many local businesses providing much-needed provisions.

A huge thank you to our fire crews, police and paramedics, who have been absolutely amazing, St John Ambulance and the Red Cross, and to local residents who provided food and supplies for the emergency services and helped manage traffic.

With temperatures reaching 38°C, it was an incredibly challenging day. Thank you to everyone who came together to support one another and help keep the community safe. ❤️

Following the Government’s decision to create two new unitary councils for Worcestershire, the Leaders of Malvern Hills District Council, Worcester City Council and Wychavon District Council have written an open letter to residents about what happens next.

The letter ( which can be viewed here: https://www.pershore-tc.gov.uk/2026/08/local-government-reorganisation-update/ ) sets out their commitment to working together to make the creation of South Worcestershire Council a success, the opportunities the changes could bring and the important role residents and communities will continue to play as the new council takes shape
