Today we held our Labour Group AGM, and elected a new leadership team for our Labour Councillors.

Cllr Lauren Townsend was elected as Leader of the Milton Keynes Labour Group, the first female to hold this position.

Cllr Donna Fuller was elected as Deputy Leader of the Milton Keynes Labour Group.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Cllr Pete Marland, our outgoing Leader, for his dedication to our city over the past 12 years. His strong service has changed Milton Keynes for the better, and he will be sorely missed on the council as he steps down.

We will be sharing more about our new leadership team soon to help you get to know them better, but we are incredibly excited for what the next chapter holds as we continue to work hard to make Milton Keynes a successful city for everyone.

Thank you to every single person who voted Labour in this week’s local elections.

In the face of national polls that had us going down to as little as one seat, we are proud to have retained 19 councillors and won over twice as many seats on Milton Keynes City Council as Reform.

Our wonderful, progressive and diverse city chose to reject the politics of division and hate, despite many thinking it was a done deal. We love you, Milton Keynes.

We lost some brilliant, hardworking councillors, and will work to get them back. But for now, our councillors are committed to working hard for every resident, whether they voted Labour or not.

Reform have shipped Richard Tice into Milton Keynes and are throwing everything they’ve got at trying to take our council. They’ve already spent hundreds of thousands of pounds sending you leaflets and letters.

We cannot let our council fall into the hands of Reform, who only want to bring division, and have cut services and raised taxes in the councils they run. Just look over the border to Reform-run West Northants, where residents pay hundreds more council tax per average household and are now having their bins collected every THREE weeks.

We have a progressive and well-run Labour Council here in Milton Keynes. Today isn’t just about your local councillor, it’s also about who gets the most seats and runs MK City Council overall.
