Pride in Wolverhampton was everything our city does best: warm, welcoming, and proudly diverse. In a time when so many conversations feel divided, this event reminded us what community looks like when we choose to stand side by side.

The atmosphere was electric — families, friends, allies, and LGBTQ+ residents all coming together to celebrate identity, love, and the simple right to be yourself. It wasn’t just a party; it was a statement of unity. A reminder that Wolverhampton is at its strongest when everyone feels seen, valued, and included.

As educators and trade unionists, equality, inclusion and fairness sit at the heart of everything we do.

Our Educators Against the Far-Right conference with comes at a time when the political landscape has undergone seismic shifts.

Educators are faced with a more hostile environment, including the need to deal with racism within the classroom and in the wider community.

Adopting an anti-racist framework, myth-busting in the classroom, and developing culturally-responsive pedagogies are just some of the conference sessions on offer.

Born on 1 June 1926, Marilyn Monroe would have turned 100 today.

Monroe’s image remains one of the most recognisable in contemporary culture. Warhol’s fascination with her glamour, vulnerability and myth produced some of the most enduring images of the 20th century.

Warhol’s use of the silkscreen technique highlights how fame can become a commodity. By repeating Monroe’s portrait, he both reduces her to a mass‑produced image and elevates her to an almost mythic status. The work invites us to reflect on how society consumes and ultimately discards its icons.
