Operating as a supportive family it enables those who are excluded, particularly through homelessness, to start new lives. With our partners, EHG creates places to belong, develops skills and finds meaningful employment. EHG’s approach of fostering and promoting ‘the heart of family’ brings acceptance, belonging, dignity and self-worth. It ensures that everyone finds their place, a sense of value,
and that no-one gets left behind. EHG aligns itself with seven of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is actively engaged in working towards ending all forms of poverty, fighting inequalities, and tackling climate change through recycling. First In-Reach - Being Family
The team provide compassionate and structured support to those who find themselves homeless and may have given up hope. Working alongside them day-to-day, they bring encouragement to enable and empower them to navigate their pathways back into life. Working closely with the other homeless agencies in the city, the team also act as the oil in the wheels helping to maximise the effectiveness of the whole. First In Work - Finding Homes
We have a number of properties that are sourced through social investment and used to house people transitioning through homelessness with a view to moving them on to being a part of a community, finding a permanent home and becoming more independent. First In Reach - Developing Skills
Our residential life and work skills programme provides accommodation, support, training, and work placements within our social businesses. Those we are looking after need the necessary knowledge, skills, and responsibilities to enable them to find their own accommodation and employment. We empower them to grow in their capacity to maintain a tenancy, in their financial management and their work readiness. Work Together - Meaningful Employment
Employment is vital in the restorative process for those that have been homeless. Working with our partners, Work Together is intended to be a new employment agency that reduces the risk for participating businesses by only referring those who are work ready and in stable accommodation, supported in their professional and personal development. We will be seeking to enable businesses to find the capacity to employ the former homeless. EHG Social Business - Generating Support
Our social businesses are trading activities that create surpluses to cover our core costs. Through generating our own income, we make sure that every penny donated to our charity is used exclusively to support our frontline activity in making homelessness history. These businesses also provide important work placement experience for those in the Training programme.
