It was a pleasure to join Chris Allen on WCR FM’s Sunday Show for a live interview and an enjoyable morning of conversation and music.

The programme provided a great opportunity to discuss my priorities for the year ahead as Mayor of Wolverhampton and highlight the fantastic charities I am proud to be supporting during my mayoral year: Friends of Di’s Kitchen, Inspire You, Wolverhampton Boxing Club and Wolverhampton Judo Club.

Local radio plays an important role in connecting communities and sharing the stories of the people and organisations making a difference across our city, and I would like to thank Chris and the team at WCR FM for the warm welcome.

On Saturday, I was delighted to attend RISE at the Arena Theatre and meet some of the talented young performers involved in this inspiring production.

RISE brings together young people from across Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas, providing opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and valuable skills through the performing arts.

It was wonderful to see the dedication, enthusiasm and talent on display throughout the evening. Programmes such as this play an important role in nurturing young people, helping them to grow, express themselves and explore future opportunities within the creative industries.

My thanks to everyone at Arena Theatre, Flexus Dance Collective and Project Xpedition for their commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of creative talent.

A fantastic evening at Molineux for the centenary JW Hunt Cup Final between AFC Wolverhampton City and Dudley Town.

It was wonderful to see so many supporters come together to celebrate 100 years of this historic local competition and the important role grassroots and non-league football continue to play within our communities.

Congratulations to both teams on reaching the final and representing their clubs so proudly on such a special occasion.

Thank you to Robbie Meakin and his wife Lauren for the warm welcome and hospitality throughout the evening. Although the result may not have gone AFC Wolverhampton City’s way, it was clear to see the pride and passion the club has for developing grassroots football, encouraging young people into sport and strengthening community spirit across the city.

A wonderful celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Wednesfield In Bloom yesterday! A fantastic voluntary group that has spent the past decade helping to improve the local environment and bring people together through planting, community events and participation.

It was great to see so many families and residents enjoying the afternoon, with crafts, games for children, Food Farm on Wheels and plenty of community spirit on display throughout the event.

A huge thank you to everyone involved and to Wednesfield in Bloom for their continued hard work, dedication and pride in the local area over the last 10 years.

Congratulations on this special milestone and best wishes for many more successful years ahead.

Next on the list was an incredibly inspiring visit to The Red Lion to support a truly special young girl, Jessica, who has shown remarkable kindness and bravery in raising money for the The Little Princess Trust by having her hair cut to be donated.

At just 10 years old, Jessica has made a selfless decision to help children and young people facing hair loss due to cancer and other medical conditions. Her donation will go towards creating real-hair wigs, as well as supporting vital research into childhood cancers.

It was wonderful to see the community come together in support of her fundraiser, filling the event with pride, encouragement and positivity as she took on something so meaningful.

Well done Jessica, you should be extremely proud of what you have achieved!

Sunday saw us visiting Meat Free Planet Limited to congratulate them on their recent award success and well-deserved recognition on not just one, but two awards:

🏆 Best Vegetarian & Vegan Indian Restaurant 2026 – Wolverhampton
🏆 Plant-Based Dining Innovation Award 2026

It was wonderful to meet the team behind this fantastic family-run Wolverhampton business, which continues to bring authentic vegetarian and vegan Indian cuisine to the heart of our city.

Hearing more about their journey, values and passion for plant-based dining made the visit even more special. Their recent achievements are a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by the entire team.

Congratulations once again, and wishing them every continued success for the future.

The Mayoress and I were delighted to attend Jollof Fest 2026 at West Park, a fantastic celebration of culture, community and togetherness here in Wolverhampton.

A huge thank you to The MASS Movement UK for organising such a vibrant and welcoming event, bringing people together through food, music and fellowship all while also supporting The Well and the important work they do for local families.

The atmosphere was incredible and of course, the friendly debate over who makes the best Jollof rice added to the occasion!

Events like this truly showcase the very best of Wolverhampton: diverse, united and community spirited.

A busy Bank Holiday started with myself and Mayoress attending the annual Dwarf Sports Association UK National Games at Aldersley Leisure Village here in Wolverhampton.

It was fantastic to welcome athletes, families and supporters from across the country for such an inspiring event.

The determination, talent and sportsmanship on display truly showed the power of inclusive sport to bring people together and inspire communities.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the organisers and volunteers who made the National Games another great success.
