🍎 Got spare apples? We’d love to hear from you! 🍎

We’re looking for spare apples to use at our Heritage Open Day on Saturday 19th September, where we’ll be running the community apple press! 🍏🧃

If you’re a local resident or allotment holder and have apples to spare, we’d be incredibly grateful for your donations. Windfalls are absolutely fine, as long as they’re clean and in good condition. 🌳🍎

📍 Drop-off: Wokingham Town Hall
⏰ From 9am on Saturday 19th September

If you’re able to drop your apples off at the Town Hall on the morning, that would be fantastic. If you can’t make it, don’t worry! Just contact Lou at [email protected], and she’ll arrange a collection closer to the day. 🚗🍏

This year, for Heritage Open Day, we’re planning on taking you on a journey back in time to discover the story of the World War II generation and the communities across Wokingham who came together, supported one another and played their part during one of the most challenging periods in our history.🎖️

There’ll be special enactments, arts and crafts activities for all the family, live music and plenty of opportunities to discover the people and stories behind Wokingham’s wartime history. ✂️🎨

🌟 Introducing Our New Mini Mayor – Isabel! 🌟

We’re delighted to introduce you to our new Mini Mayor, Isabel! 👑✨

Isabel attends Hawthorn School in Wokingham. She'll be joining Mayor Alwyn Jones at a number of town events throughout the year, and will have the opportunity to learn more about the work of Wokingham Town Council. 🏛️💫

And, of course, every Mini Mayor needs the perfect outfit! 👗👑 Isabel will be wearing a replica version of the Mayor’s ceremonial outfit when she joins the Mayor at events.

Mayor Alwyn Jones said:

“Isabel is delightful, and I’m really looking forward to having her accompany me at some of our wonderful town events. Choosing a Mini Mayor is never easy, as we always have so many fantastic young people putting their names forward. I’m delighted to have Isabel join me, and I’m really looking forward to sharing my mayoral year with her.” 😊

There's a weekend of thrill and treats in store as the Wokingham Kids World Children's Funfair hits town...featuring rides, refreshments and plenty of entertainment throughout both days, including FREE face painting on Saturday and FREE petting farm on Sunday.

Last week, Mayor Alwyn Jones was delighted to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for a new care home on Evendons Lane, Wokingham. 🎉🏗️

During his visit, the Mayor toured the site and had the opportunity to review the plans with representatives from Boutique Care Homes and the development team.

The new care home is currently planned to open in March 2028. 🏡✨

The plans look fantastic, with a thoughtfully designed home and plenty of beautiful outdoor space for residents to enjoy. 🌳🌿

It’s exciting to see this project getting underway and to see the plans for a new care home that will become part of the Wokingham community. 💙

We look forward to watching the development take shape over the coming years! 🚧👏

WOKINGHAM - THE ESCAPE ROOM ADVENTURE! 😮🤔🕵‍♂️🕵‍♀️

Looking for somethinng to do this summer?
How about trying the Wokingham Outdoor Escape Room Adventure?

We love it as it's not only fun, but gives you a chance to explore the town, our history and discover new things!

So what is it....
👉The game is played all around Wokingham town centre, is around 1.5 miles long (approx. 2,300 steps) and takes about 2 hours (although players can take breaks at anytime)☕️🍰🍺🥪

✉️❔️❔️A message from a distant relative plunges you into a quest to solve a centuries old mystery hidden within Wokingham.
❓️Escape Route: Order of the Oak blends puzzle-solving, route finding and mystery story🕵‍♂️

🔎🧭🗺Players use their surroundings to solve interactive puzzles on their phone at each location, and find their way from puzzle-to-puzzle by following trails of visual clues🔍🔍🔍

A team can consist of up to 6 players and each player can use their own phone or share with others.

You can book a game via the Fox Covert website. There is a 25% off code on the website during this launch period. Play the purchased game on any day and at any time – no need to book a specific start day or time.
