This is a huge milestone for the Surrey Bike Bank and our partners at Surrey County Council and SUEZ. 🚲

1,000 refurbished bikes have now been redistributed to people who need them most across Surrey.

That’s over 1,000 people who can now travel to school or work by bike, ride their bike for leisure and exercise more regularly.

From helping families get active together to supporting those facing barriers to travel to work or school, this initiative is truly changing lives.

Plus, every bike means one less going to landfill. So it’s a win for our communities and the planet.

It’s Great Big Green Week and we’re celebrating the great outdoors in Surrey.
First up is highlighting the Outdoor Adventure Festival we ran for 32 children in Alice Holt Forest - Forestry England.

The day was jam packed with disc golf, orienteering, den building and marble runs - designed specifically to help children transitioning from year 5 to year 6.

It can be a daunting time for many students, as exams loom and they feel pressure. But physical activity and being out in nature helps to ease stress and improve wellbeing.

Rooted in movement, the group built skills in teamwork, resilience, self-belief and determination – all while being active.

We’re kicking off Bike Week 2026 with this wonderful feedback for Graham in our Bike Bank team.

Our Bike Bank works hard to collect, refurbish and donate bikes and equipment to those most in need in Surrey.

It’s incredibly rewarding work. Moments like this make it even more sweet.

Thank you for your drawing, Alfie!

Events like this go far beyond sport. 🥋

Bringing SEND pupils together through sport creates confidence, connection and a sense of belonging.

It shows what’s possible when inclusion is prioritised. From schools and local partners to role models like Chris Skelley MBE, collaboration like this helps break down barriers and reshape expectations.

This is how change happens: creating opportunities, shifting mindsets, and creating environments where every young person can thrive.

Thank you to Wiley Judo Club and British Judo for collaborating with us on this event.

Real, lasting impact and behaviour change.

We are very proud to share the results of the RISE Up trauma-informed PE programme, delivered in partnership with Future Action at Ravenscote Junior School in Camberley.

By embedding movement into the school day and equipping staff with trauma-informed approaches, the programme has delivered some amazing results:

• 55% improvement in student wellbeing
• 88% mental fitness levels
• 95% whole school impact
• 621 pupils benefiting

Using self-regulation tools, grounded in physical activity, RISE Up is helping children build resilience, independence and emotional awareness, without disrupting the classroom.

A huge thank you to the staff at Ravenscote Junior School for championing this approach.

A brilliant step forward for PE and sport in schools 👏

The government has announced over £1 billion of investment in the next three years, to help ensure every child and young person has access to sport opportunities at school.

Through a new national partnership network, and money to improve facilities, there’s real potential to tackle inactivity and reduce inequalities.

At Active Surrey, we welcome the ambition. We’re ready to continue our work with partners across the county to ensure this investment makes the biggest possible difference locally.

Being active is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve health, reduce pressure on services, and enable people to live better, for longer.

This new national report is clear: we need a system-wide shift from treatment to prevention. And physical activity must be part of the solution.

For Surrey, this is a chance to:
✅ Embed physical activity into care pathways
✅ Strengthen partnerships across sectors
✅ Invest in community-based solutions
✅ Tackle inequalities in places where they’re greatest

At Active Surrey, we’re already working to make this happen. But a lasting change will take all of us.

Zoom in to see the wonderful feedback received from our recent SEND Movement & Wellbeing Event in Guildford last month with Family Voice Surrey.

Parents and children had the opportunity write their comments regarding what they love and what barriers they experience in relation to physical activity.

It’s truly valuable to gain more insight into how we can support all people in becoming more active.

Thank you to New Possibilities for pulling this together. 💚
